Would this switch configuration work?
-Hardware-
Switches: DP34 and 2 DP21
Dish/lnb’s: Dish500 w/DishproTwin and 2 Dish300 with Dishpro Single
Connect Dish500 (110/119) and Dish300 (148) to DP34
Connect Dish300 61.5 to Dish approved splitter
Connect DP34 port 1 to DP21a
Connect DP34 port2 to DP21b
Connect split 61.5 to DP21a and DP21b
You now have two lines with 4 satellites…
Will this work as it is cheaper than buying a DPP44

10-27-2004 01:43 PM #2If it was that simple do you think DISH would design a DPP44? Others have proven that it won't work, the problem is the receivers will recognize the 4th satellite but won't switch to it.

Actually, E* added the logic for this back in the summer. As long as the DP34 is on port 1 of the DP21, it should work fine. This was posted by justalurker over on dbstalk:
My DP21 came, the SD105 will be here Monday, but that doesn't mean I can't play a little.
It will work in the previously discussed mix:
DP34 -> DP21 Port #1 & 61.5 -> DP21 Port #2
DP21 -> 501
Check Switch finds all (1=DP34p1, 2=DP34p2, 3=DP34p3, 4=DP21p2)
Channels are actually tuneable.
Real nice to have a cheap alternative to the DP+44. At this point DP34 + 4x DP21 seems to be cheaper than DP+44's.

Sorry last time I tried the DP-21 it wouldn't work must have been before the software upgrade.

We just did an install where we tried this and NO GO. It didn't work at all and I spent 3 hours trying to get it to work.. Don't waste your time. Just buy the DPP44.
