    [VOOM] Antenna question

Currently, I have an 25 db gain antenna "distribution amplifier"
monted in my basement to compensate for a long cable run. To my
knowledge, I do not have a "preamplifier" mounted on my outdoor
antenna. (Voom installed, 10' boom Channel Master yagi style.)

Our local ABC, FOX and NBC stations are on and off reception (mostly
    off).

Would one of these mast or antenna mounted preamplifiers help pull
    in these signals?

    Thanks.
    -k

    Re: [VOOM] Antenna question

I've used this antenna amplifier with pretty good results:

    Re: [VOOM] Antenna question

I would run, not walk and get a Channel Master or Winegard Mast amp LIke an
AP8275 appropriate to the type of antenna and antenna hookups you have and
install it as close to the antenna as you can but leave enough wire for a
drip loop. Unless you are going over 100' I would get rid of the
distribution amplifier first and then add it only if you really need it
because it could hamper digital reception by amplifying noise as well as
    signal.
Do not use Radio Shack product for this. It is just not at the same level
of performance. A rotor is important too if your signals come from
    multidirections.

    [VOOM] Re: Antenna question

Don't the mast amps and rotors need their own power sources? Now I
need to run power 25 feet up to my antenna?

    ADVERTISING BOX

Yes, but not exactly as you may think.
The mast amp power comes up to the mast amp via coaxial cable from a power
supply located inside the house. By the same token the amplified signal
from the mast amp outside comes down that same coax to the power supply unit
and is fed from there to the TV or STB.
The rotor is powered by a 3 conductor color coded cable to the rotor at the
antenna mast. The voltage is a pulsed type voltage around 30 volts. The
conductors are relatively thin. I have about 500' of this cable Channel
Master brand so if you need some I can probably supply it to you cheaply
because I can't use it all.
It's really pretty simple. Google Winegard and Channel Master sites for
    better insight.
