Stevenson
It is being reported that Teofilo Stevenson, from Cuba has passed away at the age of 60. He was a heck of an Olympic boxer who I disliked immensely. However, it reminds me of how great Olympic boxing used to be. I hope he found peace.

I remember hating him, and hoping they would find a way for him to fight some of the very good heavyweights of the 70's, like Foreman, Norton, Holmes and Ali. he might have been the best of them all.

06-12-2012 08:57 AM #6One of greatest heavyweights to NEVER win a world title. But he was too wrapped up in his dying love for "la Revolución" in Cuba. He was the face of Fidel's "sports machine" in the 60s, 70s and early 80s. "Pirolo", his nick name in Cuba..love the attention of the Cuban public...and for that, in 74' Sports Illustrated ran a story about him with the title, "I rather be RED than Rich".
