    Hopper - Dual Mode

Looking at upgrading our 722 to the Hopper. We currently have 2 tuners - the 722 for the living room and bedroom, a 2??? for the other two rooms. With the $7/month fee for a Joey, I'd like to make due with just one of them. Does the Hopper have the single mode / dual mode switch like the 722? If it does, I could just do a standard dual tuner setup between the living room and the bedroom (they share a wall and I have coax and component cable running between the receiver and the bedroom) - if not, looks like I'm either moving a Joey where I want to watch TV or paying for multiple Joey units.

No, that's not how it works. You could go cheap by running a line from the Hopper or Joey to another TV, but they would both watch the same channel or program. All outputs from the Hopper and the Joey are the same. If you want two separate programs viewed, you need a Hopper and a Joey. For three rooms, with independent viewing on each, a hopper and two joeys or two hoppers and one joey. Etc.

1 Hopper + 1 Joey is the "same" as a 722 in dual mode with two outlets except the Joey can do HD and the Hopper has 3 tuners. You can mirror a Hopper/Joey using the component cable if you don't want to pay for a second Joey.

You can mirror the Hopper with components but not the Joey. Since the Joey does not have components, you would need to split HDMI if you want HD on both.

Or use composite if you don't need HD. Can use composite through the component cables.

Also can use an HDMI to component converter.
