So true. There are dozens of devices that feature web apps, including most new TVs. Why duplicate that feature on every device attached to the TV?

On something as specialized as a satellite receiver, I'd like the device to be geared toward performing the task it was designed to perform and to do it well.

ya but not everyone can afford a new tv. Some people still have CRTs. I have 4 flat screens and won't be in the market for a new smart tv until one of mine breaks.

Well you won't have to wait too long for one to break. From my own and ones I've fixed for others about 4 to 5 years and poof. Most of them so far have been those wonderful Chinese capacitors.

Meanwhile the 25 year old 27" SONY still keeps on going,I did replace the picture tube, about 10 years ago, with a used one.

Ya Ive been running my 37 lcd for several years and it hasn't malfunctioned yet. My 50 dlp blew a bulb a while back but I don't use it anymore. My 54 Plasma sees very little use.

Looking at your pictures it says something about spark on the receiver.
As far as I remember the Amiko Alien2 is running some programs on sparks.
