Big East football schools will get almost all of a $110 million pot in a deal that will allow seven departing basketball schools to keep the name Big East and start playing in their own conference next season, a person familiar with the negotiations says.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the separation agreement has not yet been finalized. That is likely to happen by the end of the week. The football schools will receive approximately $100 million under the agreement, most of which will go to holdover members Connecticut, South Florida and Cincinnati.

Meanwhile the Basketball schools get the Madison Square Garden deal for their B-ball tourney. The Big East is pretty much gone back to it's roots at a premiere Basketball only conference.

If the ACC still doesn't call, UConn should just drop back to 1-AA and rejoin them.
I'm actually surprised Notre Dame doesn't spurn the ACC and join with them. It would be a perfect fit for their plan of football independence.

Just wait, I think from the chatter around that ND will withdraw from their commitment to the ACC. It wouldn't surprise me to see Fox pay more for the catholic 7 tv rights on FS1 than the what espn just gave the remnants of the Big East too.

You know, most anything would have sounded odd and funny at first, but really? That is the best they have in the idea hat?

It certainly wont go very far from making people think they have just become Conference USA 2.0
