    Help from Puerto Rico Antenna 6 feet iverted 180 degress

    need help with an inverted 180 degrees 6 feet antenna pointing to 129 satellite.
    In Puerto Rico it is difficult to aquire a signal for satellite 129. In normal circumstanes the antenna configuration for satellie 129 is

    Elevation: 17.4 Azimuth (true): 260.8 Azimuth (magn.): 273.7 LNB Skew [?]: 69.5

    very hard to aquire a signal. I inverted the Antenna 180 degrees I know by some reading that in front of the antenna it is 49 degrees using a protractor

    I Do not have such instrument. Can some tell me how to configure the elevation (""remember the elevation"") which behind the Antenna. remember the antenna is inverted 180 degrees.

    I didnt think 129 even was feasible in Puerto Rico (footprint doesnt reach)

    Agree, 129W footprint doesn't favor PR.

    But here's what I did.(make initial measurement with dish mounted 'normal'.

    INVERTED
    1) Tie a weight on a string long enough to span the vertical face of the dish.
    2) Tape it to the top of the dish hanging over it the face.
    3) Adjust the dish elevation so the string just touches the lower lip.
    Dish face is now straight up and down.
    4) Read the elevation scale. (That's the offset)
    5) Double that reading and add the required elevation.
    6) Invert dish only. Not the elevation mount. (Maybe that's not possible?)
    7) Set elevation scale to what was calculated in 5

    Granted it's not 100% accurate as there's the accuracy of the elevation scales and 'fat fingers' but will get you in the ballpark. (No mathematical 'exactness' and no specialized tools required.) Should get you close enough to proceed with general offset dish alignment.

    I had 30W tuned up in under 30 minutes with an inverted dish using this procedure..
    Give it a shot, think you'll find that this works.

    Do you know of anyone on the island who was able to receive 129W with only a 6 ft. dish? Reason i'm asking is that satbeams.com is showing the minimum recommended dish size as being 505cm which is 16.5 ft! Honestly, I don't think you have a chance unless you take extreme measures by installing a 16 ft. + dish.
