    Strange problem after receiver upgrade

Just a couple of days ago, we upgraded one of our receivers to a 622. Previously, we had a 522 DVR upstairs, and a 510 DVR hooked to our 62" DLP. On Monday, the installer swapped out the 510 for the 622 and upgraded us to a Dish 1000.2.

At first, things looked great. In fact, the 622 has been great, a huge leap forward in terms of PQ and features over the 510. But, here's the strange problem, our normally reliable 522 has been flaking out ever since the upgrade. So far, it has locked up twice, requiring unplugging it to reset, and it has shown problems with pixelated, broken up recordings, similar to trying to play a DVD that has smudges or scratches. This happened when recording SD satellite feeds of our locals on the 522.

This weekend, I plan on calling tech support when I have time to diagnose with them, but in the mean time I am hoping to get some tips/tricks and some direction on what setting to look for. While I'm no expert, I sort of suspect that this could be a signal strength problem because of the way the picture and sound breaks up. How can I check signal strength and what should I look for? BTW, I'm in the Boise, ID area, if that helps.

I think the switches were changed on the 1000.2 install. You need to go into system setup/installation/point dish and run a check switch to start. Maybe your installer neglected to do this. $.02

The signal strength for the 129 satellite was bouncing between 49 and 51. Called tech support, someone will be out in a couple of days to adjust the dish alignment.
