    New DVR Recvr question

Hey everyone, this is my first post. This looks like a great site. Lots of good information. Here is my question. Up until now, I have had a dual channel DVR and two standard recvrs. These were being fed by a 4 output multiswitch. I recently came into an additional DVR. I am replacing one of the standard recvrs. I thought that I might could split one of the outputs from the multiswitch and feed the 2nd channel of the new DVR as well as the standard recvr. The standard recvr seems to work fine and the DVR works, but on many channels, it says it's trying to recieve a signal from the sat. I'm guessing the splitter is not the way to go. Do I have to buy a multiswitch with 5 outputs? Is there another way to do it? I would appreciate your help.

That's correct, you can't split the signal from the dish. You'll need a multi-switch.

You need a ?X8 multiswitch (2,3,4 X 8) depending on which dish you have. You will also need to run a new cable from the switch to the receiver, the new switch will go where your existing switch is. You can't just run 1 existing cable into a multiswitch and create multiple lines.

Thanks for all the help. I was afraid of that. I'm okay though. I have 2 rf cables running to just about every room of the house back to a central location. All I have to do is replace the switch with a bigger one and I'm all set. I hate to go to Radio Shack. How about a good online source that is inexpensive. Thanks again.

Just remember you do not always get what you pay for on ebay your better off going to a local store, bestbuy, circuit city, radio shack, or some other local store. If it doesnt work right you can always take it back.
