I want to split my cable line I have where my road runner modem is so I can have a tv and road runner on same cable line coming into the room. If I use a digital splitter will I slow down my broadband connection by doing this?

A powered splitter like this one will give you the best signal. I use this model to split the TV2 output of my 722K for a few older SD sets. Has model has worked great for 6 plus years.

Instead of wasting money, just drop by the local TW office. They will give you any splitters and/or amps you need for your configuration for free, and you know they'll be good enough to handle the frequencies that they use.
