    TOSLink - optical cable question

    ADVERTS 1
I have good news, I have unpacked the Sony STR-DG 510 surround system and have been slowly trying to hook every item.
I need to know, is the TOSLink cable the same as a digital optical cable?

I have a Sony HTTiB in my bedroom. For the cheaper Sony receivers, you need to pull the clear plastic tip off the Toslink end, then the plug will fit snugly into the socket.

The round plastic cap on the end has to be removed?

I got the TOSLink cable hooked up, does it carry only audio?
I am getting audio, but not video.
