I like the prices. But I need to explore the "subscribe" bit- don't want auto shipments or even more spam.

Haven't dove in many years. Still have equipment, but lost the cards in some move. Hope to get back into it.

Brothers in Arms is on my "to be acquired soon" list. (Wish it also included Sultans of Swing, in which case it would be the perfect one DS album to own IMHO.) Right now I'm reeling from the ~$140 hit I took on that MB set, and I still need to add Every Good Boy... to complete the "core 7" as they're called. But there will be more on the way soon to be sure, including Boston, Deep Purple, CCR, Journey. I'm just shopping for price on those. I see where Tubular Bells is also out in SACD. That one could/should be a real experience in SS !!...$23....hmmm....

I'm guessing my tank will need hydro'd next time I take it in for a fill. At 8' depth I get about 5 "dives" worth of BT, but I only need to patch once or twice a season, so it hasn't been refilled in quite a while...!

Before I could afford half way decent speakers, I used a good set of 'phones. Then got roomies with speakers. We put together a half decent system between us. I later built my own speakers, based on plans from a guy at the U that did a lot of acoustic and electronics work. Also built an amp, but it was only suitable for theater work, and maybe some outdoor use. Nothing requiring great fidelity.

Yeah, I saw Tubular Bells also, but decided to hold off- dollars.

Is it worth it to hydro? Or just buy another? When I was active (Guam) I just rented the tanks. Cheap, no need to ship back to the States.

Are you saying there is another track on those disks ABOVE the DD 3/2.1?
Don't know what discs you're talking about, but if it's a DVD-A disc, there should also be an "Advanced Resolution" tracks, whether surround sound or stereo. If your player isn't capable of playing them, they won't even show up in the menus.

The "Fragile" DVD-A disc does have a DTS mix on it, as well as Dolby Digital. If your player doesn't support DVD-A, they will be the only surround sound tracks you'll be able to play.

I have the "Fragile" DVD-A also. On the back, it lists what is on it. Here's what it says:

Advanced Resolution Surround Sound (96kHz/24-bit)........DVD-Audio players
    Advanced Resolution Stereo (192kHz/24-bit).....................DVD-Audio players
Dolby Digital & DTS 5.1 Surround Sound.............................DVD-Video players
    Photo Gallery......................................................................All DVD players
    Lyrics...................................................................................All DVD players
    Animated Yes Timeline.........................................................All DVD players

The "Advanced Resolution" mixes are the DVD-A mixes.
    PS3 doesn't play DVD-A Advanced Resolution mix.
I've heard that they'll play SACD, but it may be downmixed to stereo, because I don't think they're allowed to play the hi res surround mix over HDMI. But I may be wrong on that. Seems like that's what I've heard though.

Yeah - Coming up through a band then DJing in HS, to college and ultimately into the Fraternity I acquired an eclectic mix of equipment. And anywhere I roomed with someone else we had a real "combo" going of multiple amps and speakers, mono and stereo, tube and transistor some of which we built either from plans or Heathkit, etc. I still have my old (40+ years) Sears "Silvertone" 100 watt guitar amp and speaker cabinet, but that's about all from that era. Wish I still had some of the tube amps.

Last time I had the tank hydro'd it was about $35 inc. the fill. No doubt more now, but still far less than buying a new tank. Like you I never traveled with a tank (tho' I would take all my other equipment, may end now with baggage surcharges) but having at least one tank around is almost a necessity for check-out, "pool jobs", and the occasional local fresh water dive. Renting tanks while on remote trips is the only option, but then you're at their mercy. Wouldn't expect any problems but when I was in Hawaii the air in the rented tanks had a distinct "oily" flavor to it. I thought there was a problem with their compressor but they denied it. My host, and the link to the tanks, was a navy pilot flying out of there and he was getting the tanks filled on base...

    From the first post in
    this thread

    in the Amazon SACD forum:

"I have heard whispers around that the soon to be released final installment in the Genesis SACD box set series will either be the SACD's swansong or they(EMI) are thinking of scrapping the SACD format altogether and releasing the final box as standard cds with DVD like the US editions.Any one with info please contact me!"

FWIW, I just bought "Richard Strauss: Also sprach Zarathustra" hybrid SACD from Amazon for less than 8 bucks.

Good link, tks! I bookmarked it for later access. Maybe I'll join in the discussion. Haven't had time for much of anythimg the past 2 weeks. Need to complete my review of the MB's set. Now that that bill is paid I'll consider the next batch.

I'm guessing we're seeing the end of SACD as well. There are quite a few titles still out there that have my interest, tho', and I expect they'll be in stock with a few specialist outlets for some time.

    Have a great weekend...!
