Do you like surround sound systems with built in DVD or Bluray players OR separate units ?

I recently got my Panasonic Bluray so might be able to return it if making an upgrade to a surround sound-Bluray combo.

I have a HTIB in the bedroom that has a DVD in it. About 6 years old. I never use the DVD because everything runs through the high def player. I think that's the problem with integrating too much. One piece goes obsolete first, and it is sometimes difficult to work around it. That leads to replacing the whole system more often.

OTOH, components take up more space and need to be wired together, which is a pain.

I'd buy a system without a player myself.

Combined systems are fine if you have space considerations, but like Jayn_j said, one component breaks, the whole system is down.
