i looked at your manual and was surprised to see that our models and manuals are practically identical. i found the same info i posted earlier on the dialog enhancement feature. your issue is when watching a bluray or other HDMI source, correct? by the way you got a great deal on that model

I'll check tonight to see if occurs when watching tivo or something else. I only noticed it watching Bolt last night (DTS-MA Track). So it might just be one of the things in the new audio that I never noticed or never got alerted to on my onkyo

Ran mcacc tonight, pretty accurate analysis of my room setup. I watched part of a movie afterward and it was a much nicer sound than before. I only tweaked a couple things slightly afterward.

dialog enhancement is turned off, but the dial norm still appears at times, but again, only for the hd audio codecs. I never noticed it before with my onkyo and it's not really changing anything that I can hear, just once in a while, it displays on the LCD of the AVR. Doing reading to refresh my memory, the dial norm is part of the dolby audio specs and I guess the onkyo never displayed it. What's is confusing me is I don't recall DTS (in any form) using dialnorm, but yet I see it on DTS-MA tracks; this makes me believe it's something in the receiver and not just the audio track on the disc

yeah, it's a 606. It probably did the same thing, but just didn't display it. It's really not a big deal now what I've actually compared a movie on both AVR's. And actually after more playing I've noticed it only when switching from one source to another (Tivo to BD player for example) and then again, once the actual movie starts, it performs one more normalization.

sometimes when changing channels whether it be on tivo or on a satellite receiver it will do this too. it's normal and most A/V receivers have this feature now.
i'm glad you're enjoying your new pioneer my friend! Last edited by Rey; 03-26-2009 at 06:41 AM.
