    Help Hooking up system...

    Ok...noobish question, but Direct tv just came to hookup my stuff today and i need to figure out how to hook everythign up for a nice optimal surround system, etc.


    Panasonic TH-50PX60U 50" Flat Panel Plasma TV
    Onkyo 604
    Oppo 970HD
    Direct TV HD receiver (connected to Plasma via HDMI input 1)



    any help how to get everything to work...DVD w/ surround, TV with surround etc?

    Does the Onkyo have HDMI input/output and switching capabilities? If not, it's sure to have component right? I'd connect all your sources to the Onkyo (I'm guessing it's a TXSR604) with HDMI if available or component if it's not and then just run a single line from the output of the Onkyo to the TV. That way you get the best sound and picture with minimal switching when you want to select another source. Also, use optical or coaxial audio connections wherever possible from the source (DVD or satellite) to the Onkyo.
    I'm assuming you already have much of the system together and that you've just added the Direct TV correct?
