    How to set F/D on a DMX-741

    ADVERTS 1
I just received a new DMX-741. Has no instructions whatsoever. I found some vague info on the internet saying to slide the throat in and out for best signal. Seems there would be a more precise way than that. There are markings up the side. 2,4,6,8,0,2 ?? I can calculate the F/D of my dish and pre set the scaler ring if I knew what the marks represent.

    Lub,

Thanks for the post and the info files. The first on the DMX-741 I've seen and does not have any info on the F/D ratio setting. Your 2nd file is interesting and will be helpful, but is on some other brand/model. Do you think the dimensions mentioned would be the same for any lnb setup. The DMX I have does have markings up the side, but no info as to what edge to line up to or what they represent. IE 2-4-6-8-0-2 ???
    Anyone else? anyone, anyone.

I've been on a rv camping vacation, almost back home, first place I've been to that has decent wireless.

So did you get your new lnb? What do you think so far. When I get home I will be wanting to work with my 741.

I also have the 741 and i figured out that the markings are the F/D ratio numbers. Think they didnt have enough room for all the numbers so the 2-4-6-8-0-2 mean a F/D ratio number of .2,.4,.6,.8,1.0,1.2.My dish has a F/D of .38 and i set my 741 so that the 4 was just about showing outside the scalur ring.

    Stan,

Ok, that makes sense, too bad they couldn't give some documentation with it instead of having to guess your way thru every thing FTA.
So how is it performing? Does the scaler ring seem to work ok? I haven't installed mine yet, got stuck on the G-box project (now working). I'm converting a 6' microwave dish into a sat dish, I'll be starting back up on that project this week.
