if the company installing my upgrade calls me to say they don't have the equipment and need to reschedule do I let them do this or call Dish directly to deal with them?
I took off work for this appointment and really don't want to reschedule. guess I'll just have to cancel my hd upgrade :(

If they don't have the EQ, it's because nobody else in that area has it either. Truth be told, Dish can't make the stuff and ship it fast enough. Don't cancel. Just wait until they get it. It'll only take a few days longer.
At this point I will gripe about something.
I work for a DNSC contractor. We get our work the evening before. Now, when I see the email and load the file , I call each customer that evening to set up the appointment, get deatails and answer any querstions the customer may have about the work to be done. I also ask for dierections, description of the home ,whether they own or rent, etc..This allows the two parties to come to an underatnding. There won't be any surprises. If we are out of EQ our dispatch doesn't accept the job. In fact, the Dish dispatch hub calls us the day before and asks how much HD eq we have in stock.
The system is not foolproof. On occasion, Dish leaves the calendar open late because of low work volume. That being the case we get our work in the morning. But we STILL PRECALL our customers. At least if there is a lack of EQ, we can alert the customer and they can go about their normal day.
IMO all companies shopuld be required to do this. It is us who are serving the customer. It is up to us to communicate with the people we are serving.
Imagine how many problems would be alleviated by picking up the friggin phone.
Had you gotten a phone call, you'd not have had to post this.

Like you havn't done it!.........Tell me.....You drive 40 miles to install a 622 & find out the 622 is bad so you use the one that was for the next customer, Then you drive 40 miles to your 622 upgrade but you aint got one cuz you used it at the last job to replace the bad 622........hmmm........what do you do?.....Now don't tell me you stock up your truck with 500 extra receivers, I know how it is with supply and how hard sometime the RSP don't have many for the grabbing.

I would of replaced the 622 on the work order with a 722 and closed it with dash........That's just me.
Can't do that....Not yet anyway. Well not compltely true. I think Winback can do it..For now. 622's are being phased out. We have them in stock to replace other 622's.
I think this doesn't adress the issue. I believe this pertains to times when the office is out of the HD eq and awaiting shipment of a new supply.

You can do it, As long as it is documented with your RSP or a CSR........If the customer threatens to cancel, You know dish will bend over both ways to save the job......They might even give them a 722 with 3 months of HBO just to make them happy.

it's called due diligence. I bring a spare everything for every job. Receivers, LNB's ,switches( if needed) and anything else I can think of.
My employer encorages us to be prepared for bad equipment. I have a standing policy to never get caught without enough EQ..Never.
Now I have read on here, stories of techs who's employers send them out with the bare minimum. And then screw around with their checks because they couldn't complete a job due to bad equipment.

What an Angel!..........Well, here we are in very short supply of 622's. So by taking spares at this time is not possible.

Yes, My truck is full of spares (duh). LNB's, Switches, remotes, dish's and the works. But not 622's!! and that is what the topic is about.

So, If you worked for me or any of my RSp's.......You can take that "Due Diligence" and ............. :) :)

Good luck getting your HD install done. I waited over a month for my HD upgrade. I was first told that the reciever was not available, and then it was the switch. After speaking to Ketterman communications, the company doing the install, I found out that they had to get the switch from a certain warehouse, which was out. Other warehouses had them in stock and Dish did not have a shortage, just the particular warehouse they recieved there EQ from.

I contacted Dish, who stated they had the switch available but could not ship it to me directly because I did not have HD. I DID NOT HAVE HD BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE THE SWITCH! It went all the way to the retention dept. because at the time I was out of contract and was so fed up and was going to cancel before they gave me a free month of service to keep me. I accepted. About a month later, the switch finally arrived.

When they finally sent someone to my house, they realized I had no LOS to the 129....had to wait another 2 weeks to get a tree trimmed.

I cherish my HD, I went though some tough times to get it.

Dish actually told me they had the switch widely available and there was no shortage, but could not ship the switch to Kettermans communications for an install and almost lost me as a customer as a result. I would have understood if there were none available...but when they tell me there is no shortage, but I can't get one for an HD install, pretty much made me feel like Dish did not want my service or my 18 month committment!!!

Okay, That was a little rude I'm sorry, But if your RSP does not have a large supply of 622's and your RSP mandates that the 622's are checked out only if it is on the work order, Whatcha gonna do?

I guess the reason we are out of 622's is because they are in your truck!!...........

Too late.. I responded to your previous post. And after seeing the little barb about the 622's being on MY TRUCK..Apology NOT ACCEPTED.
Unless you are in this little corner of the world , you get your EQ from another warehouse. Go bitch at them.
ANd if you read an earlier post by me, you'd have noticed that we no longer stock 622's save a for few we keep around to replace failed 622's..
I think this is a good time for you to gracefully exit this thread to avoid embarrasing yourself any further.

Our warehouse is out of 622's and we are authorized to used 722's in their place. If you want to know where all your equipment is going, contact my Operations Manager! He just ordered another (110) 1000.2 LNB's and a couple dozen 722's to put on our already overflowing shelves. *sigh*
