It seems like Dish is only concerned about NBC,ABC,CBS, FOX for HD. Why don't they carry the CW or MyNetworkTV. Directv does, cable does, Verizon Fios does. Why does Dish think they don't have to worry about carrying these stations? I guess everyones right, Charlie is greedy, one day its going to bite him in the ass though.

Right now it's transponder space. Carrying two more LiLs in every market requires a tremendous amount of bandwidth.

It looks like Direct is just now starting to roll out CW and only in a few markets.

It'll come!

(I personally think there's a "better way" for Dish/Direct to do HD LiL. Seems to be a big waste of bandwidth. Think about it -- if "Lost" is airing on ABC, they're essentially transmitting something like 50 [or however many HD Lils they have) copies of the same program in HD at once. Times two to cover both providers. The two companies really should work together on it, but they won't.)

And of course the local channels would complain that nobody would see their commercials. The fact that none of their viewers care to see the commercials in the first place would be completely lost on them.

I don't even know what My Network is....But I'd really like CW which is the same as WGN here in Chicago. All the Whitesox/Cubs games this season will be in HD on WGN-----That will account for at least half of all the games for each team. Any other Sox fans out there that want this????

I though the spot beams were initially limited to 4 HD signals but with improved MPEG-4 that they can now do 6 or 7. So it may be that Dish just needs to obtain the signals and allocate the channels. JUST. This wouldn't help shared CONUS transmitters. My My Network "50.1..."/45.1... uses too many subchannels.

If they'd just make the Superstation package HD that would solve a lot of problems as most of them are CW affiliates.

My network is Channel 50 in Chicago WPWR-DT. Yea I was watching bubble boy the other day on MYNTWK and it was in HD!. When Smackdown comes to MYNTWK that will be shown in hd too!

BTW ALL Cubs and Sox games are in HD period. It doesnt matter if its on WCIU, or WGN or Comcast. Thats why im smiling really big as a D* coustomer right now because we have Comcast full time, allong with WGN. As far as WCIU, I have an OTA antenna for that as it's really easy to get with an antenna.

You mean My Network TV actually broadcasts in HD in some markets? Certainly not here in Los Angeles.

I'm pretty sure I saw some movie on there recently that was in HD during prime time. KCOP's signal has never been really good where I live, though.

MNTV usually runs a movie on Thursday and Friday and they are frequently in HD. The local cable company added TBS-HD the other day and I still can't figure out why, at least not until fall.

Trust me it wasn't. At this time, they don't have the capability. I believe they are partially owned by FOX and FOX didn't want to spend the money to upgrade a competitor and poor one at that. They only broadcast SD digital with a very poor signal, tho' I heard somewhere that they are one of those stations that will be changing their digital freq after the switchover.

The actaul network called My Network is indeed owned by NewsCorp. It shows very few movies in any resolution. Many local affiliates of that network do show some HD movies. But what moveis and what off network reruns they show will vary from city to city.

but we are a long way from the OP's question.
