5-07-08 HD Rumors.

whats the point of Toon Disney HD? Certainly there won't be any shows in HD. Same with Disney channel I'd assume.

As of now about 40% of programing is in HD on the Disney Channel ( I have it via Comcast ) which did surprise me.

Back to Dish, once they add Disney-HD and Toon Disney-HD, Cartoon Network-HD, Nick-HD and CMT-HD ( my wife loves that channel) I will come back to Dish and the HD only pack.

Speaking of the Olympics, I saw a commercial during the KY Derby saing that their going to be on multiple channels besides just NBC. The only one's that I can remember off hand were MSNBC which ain't in HD but USA is which I thought is pretty cool but they're a few other networks that will be showing the games too.

The HD feeds will be Local NBC & Telemundo Affiliates, USA-HD & Universal-HD
The SD feeds will be MSNBC and CNBC.

Bravo is no longer part of the Olympics package. NBC will air more hours than previously planned. All content will be recorded in 1080i.

Anything on HD RSN's?

Scott, we have heard nothing on RSN's in HD!!! Are they in the mix (specifically Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area?

This means that some of the HD will only be available for some OTA customers, as there is no Telemundo-HD on Dish, IIRC none on DirecTV, and few of the cable systems carry Telemundo-HD (in fact, the last I checked, there were zero latin HD channels, so if some Telemundo affiliates have added HD OTA transmissions, it must be recent).

Since Hispanic channels are still only SD due to a perceived lack of HD TVs amongst their viewers, it sounds like hardly anyone will be watching those broadcasts.

It also sounds like it will mean that most of the Olympic Soccer will thus be in SD for most of us.

Telemundo broadcasts will be Spanish versions of what is being broadcast on NBC.

OTA will miss what is on USA and Universal.

Scott, If you have sources, ask them when, if ever, the Indianapolis HD locals might come into existence. There was that teaser over a year ago then no hint that they will ever have a future.

Scott, while you're at it... any word on whether or not us poor second-class "HD Essentials" subs will be able to see Olympics coverage on Universal HD? Not that I will watch much Olympics coverage, but would like to know nonetheless.

I haven't seen the any of the cartoon channels on the test channels yet.

ESPN-News HDBravoHD, SmithsonianHD, MGMHD, Tennis Channel, Fishing Channel, and a few others have been up for BETA customers. But, I never saw CNNHD up so who knows.

How does one become a beta customer?
