What's up with closing the VOOM threads?

. . . betrayed; taken advantage of??? That is being a little extreme . . . listen I am one of the biggest horror fans around and am still in mourning over losing Monsters HD, but how much longer can we cry over spilled milk? Dish has made it plain and simple: the response, or should I say, the lack of response from its consumer base shows that they made a correct decision and are moving forward. Now for channels like Sci Fi and Spike HD, they have more of a consumer base for those channels and the continued threads show Dish how important it was and is to add.

Lack of response? I was talking with a CSR yesterday about another issue and we continued to speak about other topics since he was a rather pleasent fellow. When we got around to the VOOM situation he indicated that the lack of customer response was the mandated response even though it could be more correctly defined as an uproar. Dish did not anticipate such an uproar over the removal of VOOM.

Dish and other providers add and remove channels for various reasons all the time usually with little customer complaint but in this instance the removal of 15 channels at one time amounted to a bloodbath of sorts. Hence the uproar that Dish's policy is to deny.

The CSR even told me that many of them were also unhappy about the removal of VOOM but were told to hold their tongues or their job may be in jeopardy.

Rainbow apparently continues to market VOOM channes around the world so possibly we might see some VOOM channels in the future if they're marketed as independant channels rather than a package.

Despite what some say, Rainbow does not appear to be in any danger of going out of business.

I believe Scott closed the threads because the conduct of a few people was stooping to all time lows. Bad taste, insults, bickering...it was getting out of hand. This is Scott's site and he can do what he feels appropriate.

I thought the uproar over E* dropping VOOM was too mild in this forums. I was disappointed in the number of people complaining.

As to what I felt about it, well, the DirecTV install guy is on my roof right now. If the install goes well, then I plan to cancel my E* service, after 11 years with E*. If E* had added the "HD" channels that they did, and continued to offer VOOM, I would not be leaving.

maybe the mods keep closing it because voom is no longer part of dish and it won't be again. because of that reason the voom threads don't belong in a dish network forum. it belongs some where else. Mods keep up the good work and feel free to close up this thread that is going to turn into another voom bitchin discussion.

A lot of people just don't want to deal with a few guys that constantly rub it in their faces. It is the internet and most people don't need or want that stress.

That argument would make sense, if everyone had to read the VOOM threads.

Since reading those threads was an elective action, no one had to deal with it unless they chose to. Therefore ... no stress unless you want it.

My avatar is of Charlie. As published on-line by the Swanni on the day that Charlie announced the addition of 22 new HD channels, while failing to note the subtraction of 15 HD channels.

Just don't read

Voom Still sucks ,and its not on Dishnetwork anymore . Close this thread Please!

I'm really quiet tired of your statements about VOOM threads. It has been said numerous times that if you don't want to read a thread then don't. So why do you persist in reading and posting in threads that you think should be closed? WE know what you think of VOOM so enough already. Make your statement and go away. Don't just keep coming back and saying the same thing ad infinitum. 1 word sums up your statement BORING. Your opinion has been heard now please say good-bye and post in other threads that do interest you.
