When I turn to channel 534-548 I get the follow message:

THE RECEIVER HAS DETECTED THAT THE HD TELEVISION OR THE DIGITAL CONNECTION TO THE TV DOES NOT SUPPORT HIGH BANDWIDTH CONTENT PROTCTION (HDCP). BECAUSE THIS EVENT FOLLOWS HDCP, THIS EVENT IS NOT AVAILABLE TO ORDER ON THIS TV.

I have a ViP622 connected via HDMI cable to a SHARP AQUOS. These channels were working before but apparently not now.

How can I get these channels back please?

Thanks,

I think there is an announcement around here somewhere on this topic. Thread title was something like "More DRM coming." Your only recourse is to either switch TVs or switch to component output.

Which model Sharp is this? Doesn't it support HDCP?

Is there an option is the TV menu that would allow me to able/disable this feature? I may have turned it off by mistake since it worked in the pass and isn't working now.

Not an item

There is nothing in the menus to enable or disable it. If there were there would be many trying to disable it probably. Hate to say it but your 622 may be about to go south. The later is just a guess.

Do you really believe the receiver is probably faulty or about to be??? If it is, it's weird that the only sign it would give is the HDCP error on the PPV channels. One would think that maybe an HDD error or something would be the sure sign. Anyways, I guess I'll just have to connect via component cable or call Dishnet for them to send out another.

A lot of times in such situations it may be a faulty piece of hardware--a part in the STB-- that Dish knows about, and the STB will have to be RMA'd. Call Dish and tell them your problem. If they can't fix it over the phone, they will most likely RMA it.

just a section

In this case not talking about the HDD just the sensing section of the HDMI but it is just a guess.

I assume you have tried rebooting the receiver and turning the TV off and on? Sometimes these HDCP issues are just a "handshake" issue and can be fixed by making the receiver and the TV "talk" again.

I have a Sony Bravia and a VIP 612 that is doing this with VOD and PPV. Very irratating. The HDCP works fine on my xbox 360 that is also plugged in via HDMI. The Sony Bravia is a little less than a year old and is HDCP compliant. Guess ALL of my PPV money will be going the Xbox way.

Just had a chat with Dish Tech support and they informed me there is an issue with Sony Bravia tvs
Quote: "but it is a current issue with our receivers and the Sony bravia tv's currently they are still working on fixing the issue"
That is why I can't purchase PPV. Oh well, that money will go to Xbox live now or the $1.00 Redbox.

According to the manufacture it supports HDCP, This might be a dish issue!

When I search this model CNet's review is from 2006. That's back when there were a bunch of televisions being released that actually didn't have compliant HDMI ports. There was also some issue with how it was being applied. There were models where the HDMI port would only respond from it's initial power-on and would ignore everything after that. If the HDCP didn't ask for handshake at that point it would never get an answer. I remember that on some televisions you actually had to disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable and then it would re-handshake and everything would continue on correctly. That's certainly not a convenient fix. On other models it was just never implemented correctly in hardware and never did work right.

I did a search and found a Tivo thread elsewhere titled "TIvoHD HDMI Fails after Welcome Screen on Sharp Aquos" for exactly the same model.

Edited to add: Found another reference for the HD5500 and that TV.

Another edit: Found discussions of the same thing happening on that model and BluRay players and a variety of satellite receivers.

Yet another thread found where an XBox 360 didn't work with that model using an HD-DVD add-on.

Do you happen to have a BluRay and does it work correctly?
