They are on Cband, As to what condition, I dont know, But I think they are encrypted. I do know that they require a 12 footer to get them reliably though as they are in s2.
NO
READ THE CONTRACT YOU SIGNED
Dish could remove every single channel from their line up and there is NOTHING you could do about it.
Don't like it? Don't sign the contracts and pay the equipment fees up front.
Disney and ESPN Networks
Effective June 22, 2010 the standard-definition feeds of Disney Channel, Disney XD, ABC Family and ESPNews are still available, and you may continue to watch your favorite programs on their regular channel numbers.
DISH Network offers all customers HD Free for Life, which is possible because we are committed to negotiating fair contracts that allow us to keep our prices low. That is why we could not agree to the significant fees required by Disney and ESPN Networks for the HD feeds of Disney East, Disney XD, ESPNews and ABC Family. After we refused to pay, Disney and ESPN Networks pulled the HD feeds of these four channels only.
DISH Network is pursuing every avenue possible to restore the HD feeds of these channels. We apologize for any inconvenience and we thank you for being a valued DISH Network Retailer.
Like it really matters, nobodys watching the world cup on ESPN, were all watching on Telemundo and Telefutra!
Can someone help me understand this suit? It sounds to me like Disney is saying Dish never had a right to carry them in HD. But (correct me if I'm wrong) those channels are not distributed on C-band FTA. Obviously at some point they gave Dish access to them, and if there was no agreement, how had Dish carried them for over a year.
The following has been posted to the DISH Network Retailers website.
They are available to people who have the SD feeds. There are packages that do not have all the SD feeds of every HD channel.
Too late damage done... It's as simple as that!
Yes you keep on pointing out these small cable companies that barly cover one quarter of the country...
Comcast wich is the number 1 provider hasnt had a dispute like this.
There have been many reported incidents with individual customers describing less than satisfying interactions with Comcast's customer services. These include situations with a technician falling asleep on the job,[72] customers having to spend hours on the phone to fix simple problems, and sending a bill addressed to "Bitch Dog" to a customer who had recently complained about her service.[73] On October 15, 2007, a 75-year old Comcast customer named Mona Shaw entered her local Comcast offices with a hammer and destroyed some office equipment before being arrested and fined for damages. Mrs. Shaw was angry and frustrated due to a previous encounter with Comcast customer service in which she and her husband wanted to speak with the manager and were forced to wait outside the offices for two hours before being informed that the manager had already gone home.[74][75] Comcast's customer service quality has prompted several individuals to create blogs and websites dedicated to informing the public of Comcast's service, including one run by media columnist Bob Garfield.[76]
In 2004 and 2007, the American Customer Satisfaction Index survey found that Comcast had the worst customer satisfaction rating of any company or government agency in the country, including the Internal Revenue Service. However, the ACSI indicates that almost half of all cable customers (regardless of company) have registered complaints, and that cable is the only industry to score below 60 in the ACSI.[77] Comcast's Customer Service Rating by the ACSI surveys indicate that the company's customer service has not improved since the surveys began in 2001. Analysis of the surveys states that "Comcast is one of the lowest scoring companies in ACSI. As its customer satisfaction eroded by 7% over the past year, revenue increased by 12%." The ACSI analysis also addresses this contradiction, stating that "Such pricing power usually comes with some level of monopoly protection and most cable companies have little competition at the local level. This also means that a cable company can do well financially even though its customers are not particularly satisfied."[78][79]
Being optimistic, perhaps this will lead to Dish getting ESPNU in HD after the dispute is settled.
