We switched from local cable to Dish a few weeks ago, right after the Hopper came out. We have one hopper in our living room and one joey in our bedroom. We were one of the first people in our area to get the hopper and the tech didn't know too much about it yet. He told me that it couldn't be connected to the internet or work with a sling.

I want to connect the hopper to the internet so we can stream blockbuster. I only need it to the hopper, not the joey (but wouldn't mind if it worked with the joey too). I have tried searching other posts to figure it out on my own, but it's not clear to me yet. We don't have hard-wired internet connection near the hopper or joey. We have a wireless router in our loft and we still get internet service from our local cable provider so it has a coax cable going to it. Not sure if this matters, but it's pretty fast, I just did a speed test to my laptop and download was 45.1 Mbps.

That's about all I know. Is that enough info for someone to tell me what to get? I saw the HIC and WiFi BB Connector at the Dish Store but not sure which one is correct.

Thanks so much!

Buy the wireless usb adapter directly from the MyDISH website for $25. Plug it in to the back of the Hopper. Go into Menu/Settings/Network, and enter your wireless password, if any. Voila! You're connected to the Internet.

BTW, I recommend using the OnDemand app with the filter set to FREE, instead of Blockbuster@Home to find streaming movies. The selection is bigger, as it includes all OnDemand programming available from the channels you subscribe to, including the limited selection from the B@H (platinum pack) channels.

Thanks, Gary. I called the guys who installed the satellite, and they have the USB adapter in their office so I'm going to go get one in an hour. I had called them a week ago to ask this question (about getting online) and they didn't know the answer. I think they're good guys, but don't know much about the hopper.

Anyway, thanks for the advice, I'll let you know how it goes today, and I like your dog (we have two yellow labs).

I also have the WiFi BB Connector connected to a Hopper. Is there a way to test the download speed that the Hopper is getting? My internet connection is 30Mbps and the wireless is rated at 54Mbps.
