Hey DISH it is time to bring Time Warner Sports Network for So. Cal customers. And it better be free, you took AMC and IFC away from us and my bill did not go down.

This will happen when Comcast allows Flyers games to be shown on other Cable/Sat systems....they always say the drugs in California are better!

What makes you think your bill will go down. Dish only claimed that it was to keep your bill from going up.

It's like gas stations. Speculation that the cost for them is going up, they raise the gas they bought at $3.70 per gallon to $3.75 per gallon. Speculation that cost for them is going down, they wait to sell all of their $3.70 per gallon gas and fill up at $3.65 per gallon before they reduce the price for the consumer.

Write directly to Jerry Buss of the Lakers. Remind him that your eyes are not seeing his games but the Clippers look really good in HD this year on Prime Ticket!

This has a little greater chance of being added with the new FCC rule being discussed in a different thread. As does the Philadelphia RSN.

Exactly,I would rate the chances as slim to none that Dish or even DTV would be able to get it.

We are talking about Lakers's home ans away games. Negotiations are going on and surely by start of season, Dish and DTV will have contract with TWC for this channel. I will ask DIRT team to add myself tothe list people requesting this channel.

Well it all depends on Time Warner.Do they want exclusivity or do they want to offer it to other providers.Comcast Philadelphia which carries the Flyers and I believe the 76ers is only available through Comcast. The fcc ruled that they do not have to offer the channel to anyone. So again,it's all up to Time Warner.

There is a difference between TWCS and CSN Philly

TWCS is owned by Time Warner....they dont own the Lakers or the LA Galaxy...they are just a RSN

CSN Philly is owned by Comcast who owns the Flyers, the Wells Fargo Center, Citizens Bank Park and use to own the Phillies......so they want their monopoly

I think in this case TWC has a great deal of incentive to get this on other providers. They don't have anywhere near enough subscribers to underwrite the massive amount they paid the Lakers ($3B for 20 years with 1.2M subscribers in L.A. - many of whom are not sports fans)...

That's what I don't get about Comcast and the Philly sport channel, why wouldn't they want to offer it to other providers?Seems like it would make them more $$.

HUH? Now why would TWC, a cable company offer and exclusive channel to other providers.
And what in the Wide Wide World of Sports makes you think you deserve to get such a service free of charge?
This is actually quite amusing.

So?...If those teams sign an exclusive deal to show games on a cable only service, then that is that.
It happened here in the Charlotte area with the Bobcraps.
Their first two seasons, not only were the games seen on cable only, it was to digital cable custy's only.
If course the fans were highly pissed off. The team stunk and no one was watching.
Such is not the case with the Lakers and Clips. Both are good teams.

Simple. Comcast does not want the competition. So they used a loophole in the law to keep the games proprietary.
Comcast ended up with the system when the company bought the Flyers from Spectacor. PRISM use to broadcast via a scrambled over the air signal on Ch 57....
Here is the rest of the story..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRISM_(TV_network)
Even though Comcast no longer uses the OTA signal, the deal is grandfathered in.
It's all pretty slick if you ask my opinion.

It's more about how many potential satellite customers they can screw over into subscribing to their crappy cable service because they are the only ones to carry the regional sports channel.

What's more valuable pennies on the dollar for a satellite subscriber to get their spots network, or $70 or $80 per subscriber forced to subscribe to their crappy cable service.

It's almost as bad as how Directv forces people who want Sunday ticket to subscribe to Directv. Although I don't have any issues with that :)
