Just curious, would the Glorystar system with DVR1100 be capable of receiving a signal from both Galaxy 19 and AMC 21 at the same time given I get two dishes? Or even if I just wanted the PBS programming on AMC 21 would this suffice? Seems like I read the PBS stations on AMC 21 were moving to MPEG4 though I don't see MPEG4 listed on the details about the GEOSATpro DVR1100c.

Also what's the general consensus on this system in general? It seems like a good all in one package for $290 with DVR, dish, and LNBF though I'm sure I could find a system cheaper if I looked around.. just really want a DVR with any system I setup. Honestly I don't care to watch most of the GloryStar content, I'm more interested in the PBS feeds on AMC 21 and the few English non-GloryStar channels on Galaxy 19 like Al Jazeera English, but this just seems like a good system to get started with so thought I'd ask.

Thanks --

I would recommend upgrading the receiver to the MicroHD....

PBS is now in DVB-S2 whereas the DVR1100 only gets DVB programming. The 1100 may get one or two PBS feeds (that are not always on) but the Micro will get Montana PBS, Oklahoma PBS, PBS HD E&W, World, Create and V-me

If you want just Glorystar programming then the 1100 would work fine

I honestly don't care to get the Glorystar channels, at least not a majority of them, my main goal for getting FTA would be for the PBS channels so I need to go with whatever setup is ideal for that. So would the GEOSATPRO microHD be a good option?

Also a related question, is there a guide feature available, specifically for the PBS stations on AMC 21 similar to what the program guide with DishNetwork and other cable providers? I read the GEOSATPRO microHD does have DVR capabilities, so it'd be nice to have a guide to help set programs to record or even just to see what's coming on next.

In a prior post i mentioned using a Primestar dish, so ideally I guess I'm looking at possibly getting the GEOSATPRO microHD, cleaning-up the Primestar dish, and getting a LNB since the LNB on the Primestar dish I have is missing.

Thanks...

Take a look at their M1 kit:

If you wanted a second fixed dish, check the signature of SatelliteAV for an eBay deal.
Might have been around $89 shipped, including LNBF.

You'd need a 22khz switch to select between LNBFs (or a diseqc switch).
That could be located out by the dishes.
We have a FAQ on switches, if you need it.

And the switch is available from the same vendor.

Glorystar is the system --- The Glorystar system has "PUSHED" updates by satellite for the negotiated, family and Christian (Hence the 'Glory' part of the name) channels.

The same equipment is available, as/ like the M1 setup Anole published above. Also, as Anole said, the Ebay specials from Satellite AV are also a great package. From time to time They also toss in switches or cables with multi item / package purchases. I doubt you will find any system cheaper. Used parts and unproven/unsupported equipment, maybe yes.

But then, you have been around long enough, and I have appreciated your posts in the past, so this is just a recap for you, I am sure. The two LNBF mount is 4 degree spacing, so you would need 2 dishes as you indicated to get those 2 birds.... Check by phone for specials, too. I know you can save on shipping for 2 dishes in the package.
