Ok, now that I am getting this microHD receiver....what is the best motor to get for the best price?

I think the recent thread on this very subject concluded the Stab HH-90 took honors.
Dont recall the best price anyone came up with ... around $69 or so?

STAB 90 is going to be my next purchase for sure.

I had the stab in mind when I set up the new geosat pro dish, but I did not want to wait to get it shipped from canada.
So I bought a SG 9120 B. When I adjusted/fine-tuned the dish I noticed a little play (backlash) at the output shaft. So far it did not mess with my reception of getting the channels but it bugs me to know that there is a play in it.
Next time around I will take time and I will order the Stab.

Same here Johann that is what I have, and I have done all kinds of adjustments to it, and still not perfect....that is why I am getting a Stab soon.

Thank you for the info, It is good to know that I am not the only one that noticed this.

Was just out messing with it earlier....leaving it alone for now before I get too aggravated....:)

no mention of the dg280? when i got my first geoprosat 90cm dish from sadoun, it was packaged with the dg280. that was a good motor so now i have the dg380 for the 1.2. now i don't have experience with life expectancy on these motors but they work well. charlie

will always vote for Stab motors. i prefer the Stab HH-100 for it's easy setup as it is like a pole the shaft is up not down. and the tab on some dishes puts it in position right off no sliding around. 4 of mine are over 6 years old now and work as good as day 1. money well spent.
good luck

I hear the Stab are the best -- but no experience with them. I recently replaced my 9120b with a DG380, and notice it performs a lot better.

That's what I hear...but then hear the real true Stab is better yet.....so don't know....so I will get a stab I think.

thinking beyond 36"

If someone asked what motor I'd buy to sling around a 120 cm (4') dish, I might hesitate.
There are really only two to choose from:
- DG 380
- Stab HH 120
The Stab price might discourage buyers, but I think it would be the better choice.

We'll let owners of both discuss the relative merits.

I know I was hoping for more input than what we have so far....shy I guess....I know they are there.

I have had a DG 380 on my 90cm Fortec dish for 2.5 years with no problems.

Thanks for all the input.

Can these be used on a pole mount?

Think most of the motors will fit a 2 1/2" pole. I had a stab HH120 on a Fortec Star 120cm dish, worked great except I did have two problems with it; the bearing preload came loose (easy to fix) and the casting broke (after 60mph+ winds). I have the casting getting repaired, seeing this thread reminded me to stop by the welding shop maybe it's done. The replacment was an SG9120B which lasted a month or so before the worm gear bent. I streightened it out, now it runs a 33" dish quite well with the MicroHD.
I am under the impression that a 120cm dish is too big for these diseqc motors unless you are in an area with little wind effect. A polar mount and linear actuator would be much more robust, same as what's on the big C-band dishes. Under 1m diameter any one of them will work ok but pick a unit from one a reputable dealer even if it's a few $$ more!
