I just got the Genie and two clients installed yesterday, liking it quite well so far. But we have already accidentally deleted a recorded show. Can this be recovered as I can do with my old TiVo?

I haven't ran across this is quite some time, but on my hr24 I thought if I had deleted a Recording, I could go into the History and still be able to at least watch it again, but not "Recover" it.
Never mind, I just tried what I had thought I'd done previously, but was unable to do it now, probably has been changed thru the years.
You may be lucky enough to be able to download it ondemand, but other than that start searching Hulu and Youtube
