I have both. Dish same as you since 1997.
If you have the latest equipment from dish
Hopper system, it's by far the best Dvrs on the market.
Prime time and auto skip are truly groundbreaking.

Uverse.
I have the bundle package. Internet, tv, phone
And cell phone.
They have come a long way. It use to be the sat companies had a far superior picture. Not anymore. The only sat company I'd give a slight edge on HD picture is Direc tv.
That said I really like what Uverse offers. Great package deals at a fair price.
The equipment is good not as fancy as dish.
Internet is excellent. Plenty of HD channels.
You can watch all recording in all rooms.
Plus a great video on demand selection.
Unlike satelite you don't lose signal when you
Have bad weather.

My recommendation is try it for a month. Take advantage of the great promotions they offer.
Uverse is contract free!
Put dish on vacation for time your trying Uverse.
If you don't like Uverse no problem- remove it and unfreeze dish.

Worth a try! Good luck.

Went from Dish to Uverse for a year. Now that my contract is up in June, I'm either going back to Dish, or Directv. The biggest complaint I have with Uverse is I can only get 3 hd streams. The dvr sucks compared to the Dish 622 I had too. Picture quality is pretty much awash between Dish & Uverse. I had the U450 package with 12 mb internet for $133 a month.

Not sure if this is a regional thing with the HD streams?
I get 4 HD streams.

Dish dvrs are world class no doubt.
Nothing is in their league.
I would not say that Uverse Dvrs suck though.
I do like that they move fast.

I believe it's how far you are away from the vrad. I think I am 3,300 ft. away

It's very regional, even within a service area. I'm about 3200 feet from the nearest VRAD. I don't know how many hd streams are available, but in order to get service at all here, AT&T had to go to bonded pairs.

I've been wanting to give U verse a try but uverse tv still isn't available to me . I keep getting promises that it will be soon. I see ads run on tv about u verse home Internet and phone. I wanted to get the Internet and phone with them but they want a 200.00 install charge and equipment . Yet they won't charge anything if I get all 3 services with them. At one point 3 years ago I was told by an AT&T employee that it was coming by the end of the year. Well it never did .

That's bizarre???
Give them a call. Maybe it's arrived and
Your not aware of it.
What I would do is install all three services
Get the 200 dollar promotion.
After a month or 2 cancel tv service.

Uverse is am excellent choice!

The rep online today said the address checker is up to date and accurate. Every time I call I get a different excuse . It's got to be an error on their part.

You might want to try some of your neighbors addresses. If they are eligible then you should be, too.

I have had U verse for about a year I did have Dish for about 12 years before I switched. The picture I have is excellent and what I like best of all is that they have a wireless system in my area that works perfectly. It just amazes me how perfect the picture and sound is on the wireless units. If Dish had wireless systems I would give them another try because I do like their DVR's and their remote works flawlessly whereas U verse's does not.

Joey does work pretty well over WiFi.

How is U-Verse for Internet compared to cable? Is the bandwidth guaranteed, or is it shared by the entire street? I am considering getting U-Verse for Internet only. Maxed out my DSL.

I received an email from AT&T stating that U-verse high speed internet was available in my area. I checked into it. The only high speed availabe to me was 1.5 mb download. I am very disappointed. I was hoping to get a faster internet. I have the DSL high speed internet rated at 3 mb download but the best I can get is 1.8 mb download. What are my choices? Charter cable is available in my area but I have heard horror stories about their service.
