Central IL.
Now there is a new quick way of getting through the menus. Just press Menu key, followed by the number key in the list below.

Menu 0. Settings
Menu 1. Movies
Menu 2. Sports
Menu 3. TV Shows
Menu 4. Smart Search
Menu 5. On Demand
Menu 6. Playlist
Menu 7. Manage Recordings
Menu 8. YouTube
Menu 9. Pandora

Menu 6 should have been the To Do List as there's already a (play)List button on the remote.

This is very similar to what TiVo has had for many years, good to see DIRECTV adopting the idea.

The CC & PIP was probably left out. Due to you can press Info and make the changes from that menu. Of course a lot of this has to do with the fact that I feel, is due to the slimmed down features on the RC-71 remote.

I wish that there was a way to delete favorites lists. My wife created one when we first got the system. It is an empty list. At least when we had UVerse, you could delete favorite lists that you no longer wanted.

I would like more favorites lists but it is definitely not that important. Good info on the short cuts

I went to try it and it just went to the Menu ... then I realized that I had to go way back to the NR last week due to software issues.
Ill play with it come Saturday.

Drop-down menus using only a cursor pad should be outlawed. It is far too easy to overshoot (or undershoot) if you're in a hurry. A system that requires a double digit number of keypresses to "drill down" to some of the menu selections is poorly conceived system.

This new feature seems to have taken a whack at issues for some things that weren't that bad to begin with.

I really don't see the need for most of them and to remember them and what number they are is well, not good.
Is it REALLY that much of an INCONVENIECE to push the Menu button to get to most of these already, they are right there for you to choose in Icons.

Next , it won't be good enough, well complain because we can't just TALK to it to tell it what we want ....

How LAZY are we getting here.

After a few times you get used to the numbers. TiVo has had this type of system for many years and it just becomes second nature, you don't even really think about, just bang bang. Plus, if you have a remote that can be programmed with a sequence of button presses like a Harmony this Menu+number is very nice. I've already programmed a button to take me straight to my To Do List with one button press by utilizing the Menu + 7 option, no more digging down into the menu with 7 button presses to get to that list. Very nice to see this feature. :)

WAY overkill ....

I have no problem pushing a second button.

IIRC, you went into the DISH Menu or Setting whichever, and you had numbers , next to that number was the name of what that number did, so really thats NO different than looking at the Menu button and hitting it.
Fwiw, I haven't done anything with a DISH set up in awhile.

Just don't see the need.

I don't know about overkill, I see pressing only 1 button versus 7 buttons as being pretty darn convenient, but what ever works for you. :)

But if you pressing 1 button vs 2 buttons, not a big deal, but ya your right if it's something that is way down in the men u process I can understand.

I'd rather they give us the episode number or OAD (original air date) in the guide so I don't have 5,000 recordings of the same program. D* needs to come into the 21st century, because Dish is kicking their a$$ in this department.
