New Genie UI now in CE testing

When did you get it, in the morning?
I downloaded it at 6:59 am. I'm playing with it now. It seems that the colored buttons don't work anymore - 12 hour ff and 12 hour back, jump to a different date. Maybe it's there but I haven't found them yet.

No, they don't work anymore. It's a tragic loss and I'm still getting used to it and I got the new interface in August!
red button back 12 hrs = <<
green button forward 12 hours = >>
yellow button options = zero
blue button guide = enter

And I'm sure DIRECTV's excuse being the new UI is for the Genies and their clients which are normally used with the Genie remote anyway, which have no color buttons.

So whatever lost functionality of the old remotes is a case of ... "sorry," but they were never really meant for the Genies and clients anyhow.

Use the Forward / Rev button to move 12 hrs now instead of the FF/ fast rev.

Yes, the fact that the color buttons have been removed is another Dumb thing they did.
I still like the old white remote MUCH better than the Tivo style they tried to shove DOWN our throats.

Small remote removed many good things from it.
Somehow they felt the convenience was not needed.

I downloaded FF1 this morning because it was there and so was I. For the first time in a long time, I have on-demand and sports search again. Still no Pandora or mobile DVR, but it's only been 7 hours.

I keep looking at FW watcher and have not seen it live all morning.

It was there a few times randomly for brief periods yesterday afternoon. I checked a few times because, apparently, I am lame and I saw it there for like a minute at least three times. It stayed there from 3 until at least 3:40 when I went to bed. I can't check it today.

It has been 48 hours since the new software. I do not have ON DEMAND, DISCOVER, or APPS like PANDORA. I do have a good internet connect. I can ge the APPS like weather and Scoreboard. I called yesterday and spoke to someone who I had trouble understanding. She told wait another 24 hours. I have with nothing different. I will try calling again tonight when I get home from work. Anybody have any ideas for self help and/or getting tech help from someone who knows what they're doing.

I don't have the new firmware yet but if I was in that situation, I'd re-boot and/or re-authorize the receiver.
And if those don't work, try the "clearmybox" command of course.

That's what got my onDemand working after I upgraded to the new national release 0x0FRD with the new UI.

You forced a download of a release which was targetted for other people so you should expect problems. I wish people would wait until,DirecTV targets their specific system for a download and not try to second guess the system. There is a second download as part of the new release and I suspect you did not get it because you were not on the targeted list.

Well, you really shouldn't be calling D* if your running CE software, if the new gui truly IS out of test mode, ok ... I'm thinking that the CSRs have very little knowledge of the new software/gui.

If you've done prior CE downloads try doing a search for clearmybox 2, if you haven't done a CE then just clearmybox. Then give it a couple days and see if the missing stuff returns.

So am I I’m restarting the server or do I just hit the receiver by the server and hit 0 2 4 6 8 and can’t get it to work. Am I doing it right

You have to get on the download list over at the CE site. You dont do 02468 at all on an HS17. Basically, you reboot the HS17 and once the light flashes white you hold the add client button until the software download starts and then let go of the button and let it roll through the software download process. I really haven't reported anything because the issues I had have gone away and for my setup, it's been rock solid for about a month.
