I can't begin to tell you about how many CSRs for all sorts of companies I've experienced that have no clue on what they were talking about. TiVo (phone support) and SiriusXM are two of the worst I've experienced. Although emailing TiVo about my channel lineup I had some luck, but good luck telling anyone on TiVo phone support about a lineup report since they are like talking to a wall. Many of them don't know the difference between virtual numbers and RF numbers on OTA. I even had a very rude TiVo person on a phone call when I told him that "this channel is incorrectly listed as NBC". His sarcastic response was "how do you know it's not NBC", and he kept on arguing with me following that, but I spoke to a TiVo manager following talking to him.Cause he don't know what they are talking about is the best answer I can give you.
I have a 4K Joey in my living room, which will just shut off for no real known reason. The Joey I had in there before the 4K Joey worked just fine, and it would rarely shut off. I was just told, that when 4K channels would arrive, that havingthe 4K Joey would be to my advantage. If the goal is to replace all of the existing 4K Joeys by this summer, then Dish should have started that much, much sooner. As it is, Dish will still get complaints from those customers who have not upgraded yet (if the new 4K HDR Joey is even available by then, if one is even coming at all). The only difference is that Dish may actually have a solution for them this time around.
Also, I have said all along that Dish should also have a 4K Wally option. This would allow customers to enjoy 4K programming without all of the monthly fees (namely, the DVR fee) of the Hopper 3. A 4K HDR Wally could also be a solution for additional 4K TV's in the home, as long as you don't mind having them not be integrated with the Hopper. This would also be a 4K solution for the RV market. This is especially important, since Dish seems to push the Wally on RV customers at every opportunity. More and more RV users are watching on 4K TV's. So, it would be nice to have a 4K option without having to go outside of the normal system to get a Hopper 3 installed in the RV.
Scott said that "I don't believe a Hopper 4 is one of them." This implies that more than one new receiver is coming. So, it would be nice to see Dish do something as far as offering a new Wally. The old model is getting kind of outdated, as far as lack of support for new apps, etc.
That was said by the Dish CSRs. The Bigger question, is if Dish upgrading the Joeys, will it cost me anything to upgrade to the new equipment, or just stay where I am at currently.I have a 4K Joey in my living room, which will just shut off for no real known reason. Yeah...sure.Why would one be necessary? The Hopper 3 is still very advanced.
It is advanced enough that they could easily restore it, they just choose not to.Yeah...sure.
It's so advanced we can't even get the 4X FF restored.
Hard to say. I would love to see it return.Sadly.
I wonder if there was a deal made we don’t know about?
Yeah...sure.

They may be confusing the new equipment in the works as being a Hopper 4 when it is most likely the Hopper+Why would a DISH tech support agent tell me the Hopper 4 is coming soon if it is not in the works at this time?
ATSC 3.0 compatibility can be done with an external module or dongle. TiVo had demoed a small dongle connected to the DVR via USB and this allowed ATSC 1.0 DVR's to receive and record ATSC 3.0. Such a capability does not require new DVR's, a relatively far less expensive fix.Dish needs to do a external over the air toggle for the folks who are getting atsc 3.0 and have gotten it so far. Just my own opinion.
I think you have described the Hopper+A H4, amongst other things, could support higher compression. And streaming- both seamless (more or less) with satellite, and for many, most, “all” streaming? And HDR10 & DV. More memory, for future features.
If they could swing a unified EPG UI, that would be fantastic! And if they built in DVR features to all or almost all- well, I feel faint!
In that case, it is time to protect the account from takeover by using a Yubikey for 2FA. Both "Meta" and Twitter support physical keys now precisely because of the nemerous take overs of accounts on those notorious platforms that have occured far too often and with too much ease. He, he, he.No kidding.
Somebody hacked my FB account because Gary got a friend request from "me" when we were already friends! Fortunately he told me about it, or I would not have known. Scumbag hackers! Now my password is even longer and harder to guess, although I think FB should execute countermeasures if people are throwing millions of guesses at it.
The same thing could have happened to navycop.
