I have two hoppers with sling both on the carbon ui. Woke up this morning and all of my recordings on the second Hopper are now on the first. The second Hopper shows no recordings at all.

I'm just curious. I've been having this issue from day one. Did you by any chance try the Hopper to Hopper transfer on the Hopper that received your recordings?

Something just happened for the second or third time over the past week and I don't think I've mentioned it before. When viewing live TV and pressing the pause button, the regular graphic appears to display the ongoing number of seconds on pause, etc. This is all normal.

The problem -- is that the program keeps on playing live even as the display is showing it to be on pause.

Whoa! NOT good!

Found a major bug:
1. Had 6 folders but one folder kept being removed after nightly reboots. I read about the 5 folder limit the hopper has so I decided to remove one of the folders called “News”. It had nothing in it at the time.

2. We woke up the next morning ready to watch the news. However, there was no recordings there. I assumed it would be on the main dvr since I removed the folder the night before. But, at first it looked like it didn’t record it at all.

3. Turns out, it did definitely record it. It is showing up on my iPhone and iPad apps just fine. I can also see that it recorded it successfully if I check the timers. It definitely recorded it.

So, I rebooted the hopper (this is a hopper 2 by the way) and the shows still did not show up.

So question would be - is there any way for me to get these recorded shows to show up? Or am I just out of luck?

This really stinks. I knew it was beta software but this would seem more like an alpha release than a beta if recorded shows goes missing. Yes, I know, I took that chance when I decided to try out the beta software. I just didn’t think it would be “this much” of a beta. ;)

Wish there was some way I could remove the update and go back to the latest stable release. :/

Same thing happened to me as well.

Also, another bug I have been finding:

When trying to record a show in progress, it doesn’t show up on the DVR listings till quite a bit later (I think I had to wait till overnight for it to actually show up).

You need to update your timers to send the news to a folder that exists (or to no folder). I have read that if you recreate the news folder your recordings will be there so you can move them out.

Already updated the timers to go to no folders.

Also, tried to recreate the old folder (thinking that they may show up) but they didn’t. Even rebooted the DVR again to try and make them show up after I recreated the folders but still no luck.

I've been PM'ing with one of our DIRT guys about the "more than 5 folders" problems and he in turn is passing this along to the engineers. So I'm trying to gather as much info as I can from everyone to add to my own experiences. Will let you know if/when I hear anything relevant.

Most evenings when I get settled in to watch it seems I have to reboot the Hopper just to get it to turn on. I am not sure I have any missing recordings, but have to admit I have had to set a timer or two when I thought I already set them previously.
I do have one icon of the season finale of Bones remaining even though when I click DELETE I see a message in lower right saying it was moved to TRASH. It is in my ext. drive, but I don't think that should matter, other deleted programs I deleted are gone. Maybe it's following the '8 day' rule of Prime, but I think I it has been longer now.

My pause is working fine.
Same here. Works perfectly.
And also I've had no missed recordings or Missing previous recordings.

The only issue I've noticed with recordings, when you have a conflict on one HWS, it's not asking you if you want switch the recording to the Other HWS.

The old UI would always ask if you want to record to the other DVR.

And it still won't pick a free tuner to record a program, seems like it's always the one you are watching, then you have manually select tuner 2 if a joey is watching live tv.
It's very annoying.

Sorry to see that others have also had problems with their pause function.

If it were not for the huge 2 TB HD that comes with a hopper, I'd be tempted to return to my days with Dish's old dual tuner DVRs. I had those machines for years and they always worked just fine.

And, with my 2 TB EHD, that is a tempting thought. LOL

Are you using folders extensively with your recordings at all? Or are they just straight to the DVR? Thanks!

Feature Request:

Please note - this is a feature request and NOT a bug. I couldn’t find anywhere on the forums where they are accepting any feature requests.

Would you consider adding the ability to password protect folders with the new hopper 3? That is one of the main reasons why I am not upgrading at this time.

Well, really because they won’t allow a hopper 2 on the same account. But, if they only allow me to have one hopper for the whole house hold, then it just makes sense to allow me to password protect folders from my kids.

I know there are parental controls for certain age limit shows. But sometimes just the title of the show or thumbnail might be a little too much for smaller children.

Please add this feature and I’ll upgrade right away! Thanks!
