I have tried rebooting the Tivo and the receiver with no luck. I have not had a chance to do the moving around this week but the problem is still there so I plan to try some things this weekend. Thanks to all who are contributing.

That is the only coax run to that room. Next time it happens I will try to take the cable box into the family room. Now the problem will be getting behind my 300 lbs tv to get to the connections. Ugggg

Is there anyway to check this. Obviously I don't have an easy way to run a new cable myself and I am pretty sure it should not have a splitter in the path. Anything else that I do or check?

The wiring was run when the house was built 2.5 years ago.

Thanks for the responses. I have directv service with a round dish. Two inputs come into the house from the dish and then the go into a Leviton 3X4 multiswitch. Two feeds come out and go to my family room Directv Tivo and a seperate feed comes out of the switch to my master bedroom Philips DSX...

I have a problem where periodically my satellite receiver in my bedroom will not display certain channels because it is "Searching for a signal". My family room directv tivo always has a signal even when the upstairs phillips decoder does not. It does not seem to be consistant when it happens...
