    Had charter installed today

I went the Tivo route about 2 days after starting with Charter. I had Direct prior and was used to a whole home DVR setup and Tivo was the only way to get that. I have a Roamio Plus and Basic and 3 minis and while the upfront costs kinda sucked(about $550 up front for that setup.), the savings...

    new to charter

Was looking into Ooma myself, for when my triple play deal ends in August. Just not sure yet. Sent from my iPhone using SatelliteGuys mobile app

    Comcast Drops Yankees (YES) Network

If I were a Comcast sub(I am with Charter) I'd be calling Comcast and asking where my price discount was. Since Comcast hasn't been paying anything for YES at all since Novembers, they are saving a lot of money, so as a customer in the NYC area, I'd be asking for my savings as well.

FCC reportedly close to approving Charter–Time Warner Cable merger, with conditions

Get ready to bend over folks. Guess who is going to be paying for that MASSIVE debt load they will be taking on.... us, the customer.

    Price Increase for me

We're you on a promotional plan and it's now ended? That is my guess. I know when I signed up, I specifically asked how much my bill would og up after the promo and the person told me about $50, so that seems about right since I'm guessing the $50 I was told doesn't include the additional tax on...

Charter Launches Spectrum TV App on Roku

History is part of A&E and none of the works with Charter. I HATE when I see that commercial from A&E telling people they can watch every episode, just use the app. Well then, quit screwing around and get EVERYONE onboard, not just "select" TV companies.

    TiVO Bolt

Charter makes the choice easy. Their current boxes are from somewhere in the mid 2000's, so a Tivo is a no brainer. Charter says they have a world box coming, but it seems they move at a glacial pace with regard to implementing anything new. As for keeping the Charter box, I kept one for 4-5...

Former FCC Commish: Charter Merger is Building Another Comcast

Hmm, but yet they let Comcast become Comcast and the resulting Charter still won't be as big, so why is it an issue now, but wasn't when Comcast was becoming a giant?

Charter, Cisco Unveil New Cloud-Based Cable-TV Service

They will have to get something in place somewhat soon, if they do end up buying TWC and Brighthouse.

    Slingbox question

If you have to use HDMI, I hear buying a cheap splitter(certain models) will fix the HDCP issues. But yea, if you can use component, use it. Just make sure the cable box will output simultaneously to component and HDMI. I hear companies like Directv has been forced to clamp down in that if the...

AT&T To KEEP the DIRECTV Name

DSLREPORTS picked up story from another site. They were not the originator of the story. Not sure what your hatred for that site is.

Charter probably has some really bright installers - and then there's this guy...

You can hook things up one of two ways... 1. Split the coax before the TA and one line goes to the TA and the other line goes directly to the Tivo. Then connect the TA to the Tivo with the USB cable only (there should be no coax going from the TA to the Tivo) 2. Do not split the coax and just...

Might switch back to Charter, a few Q's

As of now, with the Bolt the only thing you really get is a faster box (from what I hear, apps are almost instant now vs several second startups on Roamios) and if you use Plex, you will get 1080p playback availability vs only 720p on the Roamio. On the negative, there still isn't a Hulu app...

Might switch back to Charter, a few Q's

I actually think it may be the other way around :) Charter has been the cable provider here for at least 20 years. Anyway, as for PQ, in my area, it's as good as Directv's except when there is flashing on the screen, like strobe light of a concert of lights on a cop car/ambulance. The picture...

Might switch back to Charter, a few Q's

I'll second mdavej's thoughts. I just left Directv in August after 16 years. With the promo triple play prices, I'm paying about $140/mo LESS than what I was paying when you combined my internet/phone from Charter with my Directv bill. At this point, from what I can see Charter has as many, if...
