Free HD for life is NOT only for new customers. You have to agree to an extension of your service with Dish (or pay a fee upon exit), or you can pay $99. Since you may be leaving in three months this probably doesn't make sense for you.

Record the item on TV2 and watch on TV1. If you are recording on TV1&2 and don't have OTA, then your only option would be to watch a previously recorded program.

Call Dish network - they will give you a number of them to try - they have always come through for me.

I just bought the 211 and am very happy with it. Also bought an EHDD to make it a DVR...no regrets.

This is a great excuse to upgrade that TV to a nice flat screen.

Do you have the 722 in an enclosed space or is it out where it is less likely to get hot?

If they have another alternative receiver, I see no reason why they would enable it for the 211.

I was quoted $149 from Dish last week for a 211 - bought one for $85 delivered from e-bay last week.

I paid annually a couple years ago, but there was no discount for locals, so they billed me monthly for that piece.

Bob - wow....those are some bad experiences, however you're the first that went through that and concluded with you're a happy comcast subscriber - no one I have talked to that had FIOS or satellite with a DVR has said they prefer Comcast. Has comcast improved that much?

In CA, the prevailing party in small claims cost does typically also recover the filing fees as well...so your time is the main thing you can't recover for here.
