I'm excited about the possibility of a DVR. However, do you think, in the process, we could get an STB that doesn't crash out of the deal? If the DVR isn't any better than the STB, then they should just give me a box running Windows ME and get it over with.

I tried both and with a DLP TV there was no appreciable difference in Component and DVI/HDMI, IMHO. So I left my DVD player hooked up via HDMI and hooked VOOM up Component. Happy so far :D

Equator is very hit and miss. Some programs are very sharp and clear, others are so noisy it's ridiculous. :(

My old Toshiba 50" had gray bars too. They burned in! Got DLP now, so that won't be a problem.

I just called VOOM and told them I had bad rain fade (I'm in Ohio, where the sunshine is gray). They said call back the next day to see if I was approved. I called, I was approved, they are shipping the dish to my installer. No problem.

Well, the only BFG I know about is from the original DOOM, and it stood for Big @#$%ing Gun. Trivia: Adcom had (or has, I don't know) a line of stereo equipment with model numbers along a similar vein: GFP - Their pre-amp GFA - Their amp Good.... well, you know :rolleyes:

I didn't have to hold down anything, I just told the Xbox I had a 16x9 TV in the setup, and turned on all the modes it could do. The games take care of the rest.

Xbox HD Game If you want to see something really impressive on the Xbox, get Soul Caliber II. It outputs 720p. Not widescreen, though, but impressive. DOA 3 is in widescreen, but only 480p.

How about the terms for PQ problems, such as mosquito noise?

Close, but in my case it does not freeze; it's like it realizes it has fallen behind and jumps forward a few frames. You have to almost be looking for it, but it happens fairly regularly on most channels. Strange.

Columbus, Ohio: Prostar Digital came Saturday just before noon. Installation went pretty smooth. Thankfully he let me hook up the STB myself - no one but me could intrepret the veritable rat's nest of wires behind my gear. I am running the STB into a Component Video input on my Mistubishi 62"...
