501 disk runs all the time

Sounds like a firmware bug to me. I wish it were not next to impossible to talk to someone who actually is allowed to be helpful at Dish.

501 disk runs all the time

I looked at that, and it was already set to "enable". This seemed to start about the time P301 rolled out (mid-June or so). I just got off the phone with Dish Network. The first guy hung up on me while "transferring" me to someone else. The second gal seemed nice but ultimately had to...

501 disk runs all the time

Did a recent firmware update cause the 501 disk to run constantly, even when the receiver is off?

Note to Viacom and Dish Network!

Time for forced unbundling Actually, I believe the only thing that will solve this problem is forced unbundling of ALL channels over cable and satellite. Everything a la carte. As an example, Viacom is able to hold Dish hostage to price increases becuase they negotiate all the...

How much futher west is the 105 sat comparied to the 110?

You are correct: the satellite at 105 is in geosynchronous orbit 5° east of the satellite at 110. The apparent angular separation (at your location) between these two satellites can only be determined by knowing your location.

    SuperDish Update

The spot beams on AMC-15 (the AMC-2 replacement) are Ka band, and will likely NOT be used for DBS, but instead for Internet/broadband services. http://www.sesamericom.com/media/2003/09_08_03.html

    House prewired

I know of no diplexing solution available on the market. On a single story structure, any professional installer should be able to get cables down from an attic without too much difficulty. Multi-stories are a bit more "exciting" but not usually impossible.

    Hot! Hot! Super DISH

How could this (professional install only) possibly combat piracy?

    Does Dish 500 + single 105 dish = SuperDish

Neither of these are "free" (i.e. "not costing or charging anything"). They require a service commitment. One of the biggest problems humankind has is the inability of people to distinguish between "no up-front charges" and "free". In no way should this be construed as an attack...

    SuperDish delayed

Did they mention which year? I would think a dish/LNBF combination would be a simpler engineering job than the 921, but E* has had a long history of not shipping products on time or debugged. Massive Understatement Dish could help out here by publishing info to help the gearheads...

Speculation about future Dish programing- Post SuperDish??

Not for Alaska. AMC-2 will not reach most of Alaska. AMC-15 might be a bit better... AMC-2: http://www.ses-americom.com/satellites/amc-2.html AMC-15: http://www.ses-americom.com/satellites/amc-15.html Also, only 3 transponders licensed at 157. Reportedly, 148 will not work for Alaska...

    Does Dish 500 + single 105 dish = SuperDish

There's an entire thread on this idea here: http://www.satelliteguys.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=784

    Building your own "superdish"

Anybody located a source for bandstacked Ku LNBs and bandstacked DBS LNBs? How about DP+ 3:4 or 4:4 compatible switches? Does anyboby manufacture these?

Speculation about future Dish programing- Post SuperDish??

JohnR, I think Dish plans to minimize the use of the side sats. It costs them money to install an 18 inch dish for a Locals subscriber. I am leaning towards the theory that Dish plans to sell the 61.5 slot and satellite to VOOM, and use the 148 and 157 slots to provide HD and locals...
