    NOAAport help

Hi Tim I have interest in locating a low cost L-band TV that will demodulate the new (DVB-S2) NOAAPORT signal. At this time I am unsure about the size dish I'll need. I was receiving low signal level a few months ago when the satellite was sending DVB with 1/3rd the bandwidth now...

    NOAAport help

Hi Tim I am using my 2 meter dish to look at GOES satellites. But, I'd like to put the C-band feed back on it to look at SES-1 when they get DVB-S2 working. If you get any information on the NOAAPORT signal, I'd sure like to hear about it. Thanks Jerry

Hi Tim My knowledge of computer technology and Internet access is so limited that I am reluctant to write much about my current project related to the Ettus USRP. Patrik Tast is able to tell you more about my "station". We have made my USRP available to anyone in the world via the Internet...

Hi Swingbozo You can get the EMWIN text data from the NOAAPORT satellite (SES-1) without spending significant $$. It will impress me if you can get the signal with a 1 meter dish. Patrik Tast has been working on a free program that decodes the NOAAPORT signal using a PCI TV (POES-Weather...

The signal from SES-1 seems to be even in excess of the level needed to make good images now. I'd like to be able to know how much they decrease the signal level when they drop the level soon. I estimated the S/N level by rotating the polarization thru a signal Max and Min. The ratio is...

Thanks Phil I found the SES-1 satellite by looking at the strong signal at 1.1994 GHz. It too is Vertically polarized. The Twinhan is now 100% on both Signal Level and on Quality. I estimate the Signal to be close to 9 dB above the Noise using the 2.22 meter dish. Jerry

Hi Tim You could save some guessing if you can tell me the polarization of the SES-1 NOAAPort signal. I'll continue to search the Internet, but have been looking without any success so far. Jerry

    NOAAport help

Hi Tim When I let myself think the USRP was 'tameable', a few months ago, I set one up and began streaming GOES-11 data to Patrik and Martin (in Europe). I now realize that I will never be able to do anything except follow instructions for using this USRP. My USRP is set up so anyone in...

Hi Tim The 2.83 meter solid surface aluminum dish is still flat on the ground awaiting a pedestal. It is not too heavy to pick up, but it is really awkward for me to handle without help. I can easily change my plans concerning how I will use these dishes. As each day passes, I learn more...

    NOAAport help

Hi Tim I thought NOAAPORT would be too difficult for me to make work with my 7 foot dish so I reworked it to look at GOES-11 (L-Band). is it probable that NOAAPORT will continue to be as strong as it is now? I could do more work on setting up the 9 foot dish for the GOES satellites and...

    NOAAport help

Hi Tim I disassembled my NOAAPORT antenna to use it for GOES-11. Now I wonder if the power level from SES-1 is up significantly, because i read this today --- If you've been watching Jose Nieves and my signal quality meters, over the last two years, they've been pretty low. Last week, I...

?GVAR? Hi Tim What information is sent in the GVAR channel? When I had my receiver connected to the 4 foot (offset) dish, I recorded this spectrum from GOES-11. Jerry

?Live GOES images? The question is -- How can one get live GOES images? I am, at this minute, disassembling my NOAAPORT (C-band) system so I can use my 2.36 meter dish to receive 1.691 GHz signals from GOES-East and from GOES-West. I have been able to get poor signal from GOES-11...

PCI TV card If the question is -- Can I use my PCI DVB card to receive weather data? If so, how? -- Patrik Tast has written some software that can be used to receive weather data from the NOAAPORT satellite. His software can be accessed here POES-Weather Ltd Jerry
