I think I got an illiterate CSR who read this memo as "HR34 is a non-fixable unit and it sucks to be anyone stuck with one". He won't send me a new one. He wants to charge me for an upgrade.

I'm being told it's a known issue and they won't allow a free replacement. The person I'm speaking to doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Is this a bad employee or does DirecTV really have a policy that they won't replace equipment that they know is bad?
