    HD-Lite?

I'm surprised anyone is still on about this. Sooner or later, everyone will realize that "HD-Lite" doesn't exist; it's just a made-up, pejorative term to describe a valid HD format.

    xxx@dishnetwork?

That's precisely the reason employees have been kept off the forums for so long; it's difficult for them to control the dissemination of information beyond their own phone switch and web server. It is a positive thing in that the company has a more public face and open interactivity with its...

    To Dish TSR Staff

Be fair now; those interns aren't high school kids deciding between a career in broadcasting and one in the amusement park arts. They're usually coming off their last year of a bachelors or masters program, and they usually spend all of their time working a single, massive research project for a...

    To Dish TSR Staff

No, he isn't. It was a very passive-aggressive requirement inasmuch as the consequences were undefined, but management is required to have at least an 85% subscriber rate among their employees, whether they can (or want to) receive the signal or not.

    Interesting...

Those 3500 waivers represent only about 13% of the employee base, and are probably the people who have elected not to have company insurance at all. As pathetic as Dish's high-deductible, high-copay plans are, they don't have any that involve annual coverage caps, so there are no employees in...

    Dish online false advertisement

Good. That's what it's there for. Now the issue will be investigated by professionals - no disrespect intended, but you're bottom-rung on the E* corporate ladder, and policy directives tend to get obfuscated as they filter down the management chain, so you probably have a very myopic, localized...

    Dish online false advertisement

You can't circumvent honoring an advertised price for a service just by giving out more services. They can offer PPV coupons, but if that offer is refused, they have to credit the account. My guess is TA is just being disgruntled again, and either misinterpreting or embellishing the directives...

    Dish online false advertisement

You're alleging that, as a matter of policy, a Fortune 300 company is requiring employees to knowingly break the law as a condition of employment. That's a pretty inculpatory and implausible statement, and you probably haven't reported it yet.

What a retired Judge explained to me...

That's an incomplete analogy, because eventually the English muffin maker acquires a ginger pickling plant, and tells the supermarket, "if you want to sell my muffins, you also have to sell my pickled ginger to people who otherwise might not want pickled ginger." It's bundling that's...

    Sentate passes commercial volume law

This is going to make multichannels ultimately responsible for volume levels, and they're going to have to spend millions to make sure all audio formats and compression techs are supported. You can support this bill, or you can complain about price increases, but you can't do both.

Better Business Bureau calls out Dish, satellite TV

Since February, that should be less than 20% of the employee base. Managers are required to ensure at least 80% of their direct reports are subscribers as a(n unspoken) condition of employment.

I wonder what would happen if

That was a pronoun-o-rama. I think it means if you try to stop shoplifters, you'll go out of business.

ESPN Thursday Night Football Blackout or mistake?

That's probably easy for a cable company with localized programming and near-unlimited bandwidth... but take into consideration what a national broadcaster would need to do: Fire up a new virtual channel for each replacement feed. Target only receivers in the blacked out area to temporarily...

    5.3 IR remote & new Xbox 360

I only ever got a single button to turn it on or off, never both. It should be noted that I'm still working with a first-generation 360, which has been kept alive by multiple surgeries and case mods.

    5.3 IR remote & new Xbox 360

There isn't. The only way is to buy/borrow/steal an Xbox remote, and spend an hour or two learning up a 20.0/21.0. You will never get the power button to work right, though; the 360 has separate IR commands for power off/on. I had to use PgUp/PgDn.
