    Moxi HD-DVR box

Sounds about right. Not much, I know, but it's nice that they don't compress it any more. We may not have a lot of capacity at present, but the PQ is pretty darn good. The do have plans to increase capacity, but I'm not holding my breath.

    Moxi HD-DVR box

The native pass through is for resolution. It allows the box to sent 1080i content to the TV in 1080i, and 480I content in 480i, etc. The way it currently works, you set ONE resolution, and everthing gets sent to the TV at that resolution, and the box resamples it. That's a pain, because if my...

    Let's get serious!!

No. Charter has to have licensing agreements in place to carry locals in HD. Where I live, I can get about 10 different HD locals OTA from the 2 markets I live between, but Charter currently gives me only 2 of those in HD! It's very frustrating and very slow getting more added. That's why I...

    Moxi HD-DVR box

Just to clarify a couple of things - the 3.2 upgrade will allow native pass through for resolution, eliminating the need for manually switching from 1080i to 480i as you switch from HD to SD channels. But, it will NOT solve the problem of the analog channels (below 100) looking bad. That...

    Farewell Voom And Hello Charter

I know it from talking to Charter people in my area. Some areas already have it, and I've run into people online who have it. It will make a HUGE difference in picture quality on the lower 100 channnels. I'd suggest calling Charter in your area to find out about their timetable. But you can...

    Farewell Voom And Hello Charter

CDH, If you've got a Moxi, you want to go into Settings, and set it to Widescreen and leave it. Then, also under Settings, change your Video Output to either 1080 or 480, depending on what you're watching. That should keep your TV from displaying SD in 16:9. It's a real nuisance, but will be...

    Farewell Voom And Hello Charter

Charter is switching to a digital simulcast system where they send the lower 100 channels in both digital and analog. This will improve the grainy appearance with the DVR on those channels. The rollout has already started, but I don't have it here in Whitewater, WI, though some people in nearby...

POLL: After VOOM, who will be your provider?

Since the people here are among the most knowledgeable around with respect to other companies' offerings and picture quality compared to VOOM, I thought it might be instructive for those who are newer to the satellite world to see if there is any consensus of opinion as to what is the next best...

    The NEXT HURDLE - 3/31/05

Amen. And it is likely that there are many moving parts that have been moved already that we just don't know about. I'm sure that we on the outside are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. I remain optimistic...
