    New Dish Network Pricing

I tried doing the search, but not very good at it.... Can someone tell me the aprox cost for upgrading to HD on Dish? I finally bought a HD TV for the living room (using OTA HD in the theater room and bar). Now with three HD displays, thinking it is now worth the upgrade to HD. But how much...

Can you suggest a good indoor Antenna?

I got that antenna with my voom as well. Works great. I didn't look to see where you are at or what stations, but in my case I hooked up in my media room and set it by out sliding glass door. I picked up a couple of channels. I then moved it to the attic and mounted it to the ridge beam. After a...

    VOOM and OTA HDTV

Hey it Worked!!!!!!! OK, got in my 2nd Voom box late yesterday and just plugged in. It worked, it worked!!! I know get all major HD channels!!!! :D :D :D Brief recap, I had ordered a Voom box on ebay that came with the powered Wineguard Senar antenna. It all worked great except I...

    Surround Sound from OTA

I watched last weeks MNF in HD thru my Voom box (last weekend was my 1st weekend with HD). My Voom box works just like your TV, the RF from the antenna goes to the RF IN on the Voom box, I then use the optical audio out on the Voom box, to the optical audio IN on my Surround receiver. (I also...

    Help with OTA

I don't know how much of a newbie you are but to get OTA for "free" you need the following three items that are typically "not free". 1) A HD Display device (such as HD TV, HD Monitor, HD Projector or whatever). Some non-HD devises will not even display a HD source. Others will but won't be...

    Need TV Recommendations

I couldn't agree more. Also the larger the screen the worse the SD Pic. I always knew DVD was mo better on my X-1 to a 94" screen vs Dish Network SD image. But mostly chaulked that up to how good DVD is. However, last weekend I hooked up a HD OTA receiver and I could quickly and easily switch...

    VOOM and OTA HDTV

Ilya and the other guys know a lot more then me, but after working with mine I may unwittingly become an expert on them. No, you are not reading it correctly (or perhaps completely would be more accurate). If the Voom box has a later firm ware that allows you to "scan for channels", the...

    VOOM and OTA HDTV

Guess will see what I get, already ordered. Course with the Hurricane, I will likely have to go to Florida so who knows how long before I can actually try it.

    VOOM and OTA HDTV

OK, ordered another Voom box with latest FW. Was too cheap, not to give it one more chance ($50.00 shipped). I'm trying to get by for about a year then I plan on a massive upgrade in my HT room (new Tive, DVD player, and HD receiver) as I will put all these current items in my bar (when I build...

    VOOM and OTA HDTV

I have not played with aspect ratio on my. But it is my understanding that if you are using a WS display and the image is WS, then you are getting a HD signal. If you get the black bars on the sides (4:3) then it is not a HD signal.

To 811 or not to 811 and/or other suggestions?

OK, thanks for all the help. I decided to try a voom box one more time. Cheap price, I have all the needed items already including a mounted antenna that I know works well. I really hoping to "get buy with this" for a year or so. Then when MPEG4 settles I will upgrade everything (well my SD...

To 811 or not to 811 and/or other suggestions?

Yea, I think I'm passing on the 942 right now. I called Dish again this morning and they still are telling me no $250 deal for the 942. If I buy a 811 on eBay, will Dish still charge me the $5.00 equipment fee when I have it activiated? I'm leaning toward trying another Voom box...

To 811 or not to 811 and/or other suggestions?

Thanks...and by rebooting do you me just powering down and back up again? Or is there something more? Dang, the 811 would be a no brainer for the deal they are giving me except with all the problems people report. And while I don't mind "messing" around and tweeking, as mentioned I travel a...

    VOOM and OTA HDTV

Yup, just trying to explore all my options... -Don't think I will do the 942. I like the idea, but don't want to spend the $$. Plus when I called dish back last night to discuss their install charge on the 811, they told me they had no deals currently on the 942. Now I know if I call back, I...

To 811 or not to 811 and/or other suggestions?

Thanks, I got the X-1 a year ago to learn about PJ's, experiment, see what I like and don't like, etc. I image I will get about 18 month more out of the bulb (I have already had the unit up and running about 10 months). Once the bulb blows or reduces output significatly, I doubt I will replace...
