    The "new" FCC and OTA

True, meet the new Boss, same as the old Boss. My concern is more in the direction of the general tone being set by the FCC. It would appear Mr. Ajit Pai is bend on doing his best to support Cable and ISP providers at the expense of the consumer. With out a doubt the Cable TV providers are...

    The "new" FCC and OTA

It is my understanding the reason OTA TV exist is a FCC rule that requires networks to implement it. With the new Republican Corporate friendly FCC, is there a possibility that rule may be eliminated? They seem to have done everything possible so far to attack anything benefiting the general...

fortec 6 ft dish focal length

On my Fortech 6" dish, the measurement from the base plate in the dish to the bottom edge of the scalar ring is 29". The lnbf protrudes 1.5" out of the scalar ring. That seems to work best for the signal.

    C-band dish size

It would be better if you listed what sats/transponders you are trying to get. Personally I use a 6" dish and looking at the Latin-American beam for PAS R1 I am only in the 34 - 36 dbW footprint, however I have no problem with the signal using the 6" dish.

    Quickcrete, Grout, Cement?

" The problem I had was putting the Quickcrete INSIDE the pole. I think it left too many voids and didn't strengthen the pole very well. I think it was because of the gravel inside the Crete." I know what you mean, however the stones are less than 1/2", I do mix a little more water in the mix...

    Quickcrete, Grout, Cement?

Use the concrete mix 80 lbs bags in a wheel barrel, go slow on the water. Use a spade or hoe to mix it until soupy. I use the same to fill the inside of the pole. Wear some rubber gloves while you fill the pole, the stuff is tough on the skin.

    my new toy

I think that polar mount is part of the package for that dish. Not sure if it is sold separate? It is the same dish sold by Sadoun, but you will have to purchase a polar mount and adapt it to the dish, there is a bit of work involved.

    my new toy

Thanks for the pic's. It looks like a solid polar mount, are you going to mount the dish on a pole, or keep the present stand?

    Painting a Primestar dish?

Rustolium makes a nice automotive primer, light gray, it is very cheap, dryes fast. I used it on a Primestar dish, it is holding up great. Got it at Home Depot.

Same here, there is nothing permanent on the ku side. It has a good signal strength to the north east.
