DirecTV Slim Line in Florida for FTA, need help

I could get a tone on the simple satellite detector, and I kept turning it to 5 or 4 and kept tuning it up to 10 many times, so I was sure I was pointing at it, yet I could not get the receiver to go above yellow, it never hit green.

DirecTV Slim Line in Florida for FTA, need help

I was trying again today, and the gutters and downspout are awfully close to the proximity of the dish path, too close for comfort. I got very close to what i needed, but the receiver never moved off of yellow. I read your post Catamount, and I'm not sure which is the skew adjustment, except...

DirecTV Slim Line in Florida for FTA, need help

I did get the lnb to standard, and all the other settings you suggested were right on. It was too dark to see what I was doing on the dish. I also have a Pansat, but it is a 3500, and very old compared to the Amiko . I keep watching craigs list for someone wanting to get rid of a bigger...

DirecTV Slim Line in Florida for FTA, need help

Can't set it to standard and get 10750, but in universal I can set the start to 10750, but then it has a second, not sure if I have to set that. I can set the elevation to 53.2 per the dish pointer, and it shows which way to point, but I get nothing above a small yellow level. I put the dish...

DirecTV Slim Line in Florida for FTA, need help

I have this LNBF, and I am not sure what to set the FTA Amico to for LNBF. The frequencies don't make too much sense to me. I will set the dish to 90 as suggested. I have a simple tone type sat meter, but it isn't helping so far, as I think I don't know exactly what I am doing. So this is a...

DirecTV Slim Line in Florida for FTA, need help

The problem with getting a big dish is that it has to be mail ordered and the shipping is usually a lot. If I can get a dish in West Palm beach, that is a 45 minute drive, and i can do that. I ordered an LNB that will fit the arm on the Slim Line, I hope it will work. It is this LNb off of...

DirecTV Slim Line in Florida for FTA, need help

What I need help with is understanding the rotation on the slim line, and what it has to be at for my use as FTA. I adjusted the angle for 56 degrees for 91W, but that might not be the best for my location. The dish is on the side of my house that is east, and I can point north and south from...

DirecTV Slim Line in Florida for FTA, need help

I have an old Slim Line dish and I have a FTA receiver. I got as far as putting my own LNB on the dish at 18.5 inches, and the rest is lost knowledge on my part. So I have questions. What satellites can I get on the slim line in Florida? What do I set the dish at to start looking? I have the...

Directv HD Dish convert for FTA?

I will either move the dish from the side so I have a clear view of the sky, or order a 36" dish and mount it with a motor. A lot of growth around my house has blocked a lot of the western sky. I have a tower that I might be able to mount it to, or I will get a tripod and put it on the roof...

Directv HD Dish convert for FTA?

I tried the calculator, and entered my data, and inserted 97.0 for the satellite So I must have done it wrong, since if I aim my dish the way it suggested, I would have to aim is south east, It did say the angle was 53 degrees, and that matched some other data I had. What I was not sure of, is...

This how the lnb sits on the dish. Maybe it is not aiming at the dish properly?

Directv HD Dish convert for FTA?

OK, the Amiko is much different from the old Pansat 3500. Can someone clue me in on settings for 97W? I have a PLL LNB, and I have my GPS coordinates. I am stumped as to what some of the settings would be. A picture of your 97W setup screen would be most helpful. I tried to apply the same...

Directv HD Dish convert for FTA?

The modification of the DirecTv lnb was a bust. I have a PLL lnb in an LNB bracket that I will attach the the DirecTV. I now have the Amiko HD mini receiver, and I plan to use it on my next test. One thing I learned today was that Silicon Dust, maker of the HomeRun, is going to make a FTA...
