Trust Counts... A Note from SatelliteGuys Founder Scott Greczkowski

If I may, I would like to clarify one part of the puzzle a little bit. Just before Earl interviewed to work for DIRECTV, DIRECTV was also making changes as who sends out release notes. Companies are living things and some things shifted. Also, Earl was grooming the moderators to share the...

    Special Tues. night C/E

Thanks moonman, I was going to make a rare appearance here to post this information. I can confirm that a phone call was placed with DIRECTV, this is not an April Fool's joke. Cheers, Tom

0x1E? tonight or tomorrow for HR20?

First off, thank you Lord Darth Vader for your support of the work Earl and I do helping the CE process. Secondly, thank you JTN for your support of the CSR tier. I talk to many of them, I know they try very hard to help customers. That is one of the things I like very much about DIRECTV...

    New HR20-700 CE tonight only

A special new CE update will be sent tonight. Anyone who participated last night will need to re-download tonight. I expect the SatelliteGuys staff will post the CE announcement presently, but I wished to give everyone a heads up now. Until then, there is more information at DBStalk.com in...

Spaceway 2 at 99 Degrees Update?

Looking at the NORAD data, I tried to figure out how long S1 was parked before Boeing turned it over to D*, but wasn't quite sure. It may have been as long as 4 months, but as Charper1 has said, I too read that S1 had problems. And S1 was the first of the family--it may have had a longer...

    Spaceway 2 Launch thread - It's up!

Spaceway 2 (nearly?) Parked! According to today's NORAD data, Spaceway 2 is very nearly parked! It has the right altitude, in the right longitude, but flys a bit north to south right now. Handoff to D* has to be close! Cheers, Tom

Spaceway 2 at 99 Degrees Update?

Spaceway 2 (nearly?) Parked! According to this morning's NORAD data, Spaceway 2 is in the right orbital slot and at the right altitude. Its bouncing a bit north and south still, but handoff to D* must be close! Cheers, Tom

MPEG4 HD DVR and Home Media Center news:

HMC is the Home Media Center, kinda a super-DVR. Rumored to have 4 tuners, bigger hard disk, and able to feed streams to client boxes. Most HMC users would have one HMC to record everything and a client at each TV. Cheers, Tom

Spaceway 2 at 99 Degrees Update?

Great guesses, charper1. Satscape is correct. NORAD data is via Space Track: http://www.space-track.org. One needs to register to get data from them, but its the source that everyone uses (if I understand correctly.) The other place you can get data is http://celestrak.com/. They get...

    DIRECTV Price Increase 3/1/06???

I understand your fear. Had that too the first time, but Directv has been using pull.xmr3.com in their emailed links for some time now--Firefox warned about the link the first time. The correct link will take you to a page with the package you subscribe to. Mine is the "brown" package...

    Spaceway 2 Launch thread - It's up!

Today's NORAD data fed into SatScape puts Spaceway 2 in a narrower orbit ranging from 99.05W to 91W, .11N to .11S, and 23,160mi. to 21,300mi above ground. It seems to be getting closer to final parking orbit. Based on the orbit time changes, seems that they've been firing thrusters daily, i...
