I am thinking of switching over to Directv from Dish. I am interested in getting 2 HD DVRs and 3 regular receivers. Is this possible from Directv? I am tired of waiting for Dish to get the Omaha locals up, and Directv has them. Also, I can't stand everytime I call Dish, I get someone whom I cannot understand.

Thanks,
Tim

Tim... I got tired of the runaround from E* as to when the cincy locals would be up in HD about a year ago and switched to D*. I've never looked back. I have 3HD receivers (one is DVR) and two SD. Their hardware is not quite as capable and intuitive as E* but it seems more reliable and I have less rain-fade. HTH:cool:

I am also from Omaha, and pissed at Dish as well over the Omaha HD locals. Dish has published on their website that Omaha would see HD locals in June of this year. Well here it is mid August and no Omaha HD locals, and Dish can not provide me with a date as when I might see them. I really like my Dish receiver but over the 9 years with Dish, their customer service has been horrible.

One question for those with Direct. Currently, with my Dish 722 HD Receiver, it has two outputs, and two tuners. The 1st tuner is controlled with a IR remote, and I can watch this receiver in another room with a RF remote. This is very convenient for me, as its just my wife and I, and we have our one DVR feeding all our 5 TVs in our house. Can the Direct receivers do this as well?

No. You could watch in another room but only the same channel. But you say you are getting multiple receivers/DVRs so would you really need that?

I am almost positive you can have 5 TV's. I think 6 might be the max for residential but I don't know for sure.

From talking to the guys at Plasma Concepts, they said you can have 6 TVs. I'm just about to sign up and need 4 DVRs, so that wouldn't be a problem? What if I added another TV? Someone mentioned a multiswitch that goes up to 8, but if each DVR is 2, adding another TV would go past 8.

Thanks for any help you can provide :)

There are 16 port multiswitches as well.

There's the WB616 multiswitch (16 outputs) or you can get 4 spiltters and split the lines going into a switch and have two WB68 switches to also get you to 16 outputs.
