I love the new 922. Love the interface, really like the guide in HD and best of all I like how the DVR sets up new recordings and allows you to have them saved in folders created at the time you set up the timer. :love

However---I was editing my recordings and while in the NO FOLDER recordings decided to use the edit function to move some recordings to a new folder. First up was Bones -- had two recordings and selected EDIT and then chose the two Bones recordings. Then I went into EDIT SELECTION and selected Move to Folder. Up came a screen listing my folders along with the Create a New Folder which I selected. The title screen for the folder came up - I typed in Bones and pressed save and the new BONES FOLDER was created and the selected Bones Episodes was moved into the folder. HOORAY!! How easy to do!:clap

Then I went into the same process for Lost and when I selected Move to Folder -- Create a New Folder selection was gone!!!

I tried to create a new timer and Create a New Folder was gone from there too!!!:yikes

HELP!! How do I get my Create a New Folder back?? :river

If you just want to organize the shows by the series, there's no need to make folders. At the top of your My Recordings screen there is a dropdown that shows several options:
Folders by Title
Folders by Theme
My Folders
No Folders

If you choose Folders by Title it'll automagically put all the shows in folders by the name of the show. If you use Folders by Theme it'll sort things like Movies together and Series together and so on. My Folders will of course show things by the folders you have defined.

User defined folders are limited to 5. If you have 5 folders then the option to Create Folder will disappear. So don't make folders for things that can be handled automatically for you by title or theme.

If you want to delete the folders you can do so by using the Edit All feature. Choose My Folders from the folder drop down. Make sure you don't have any recordings in the folders you want to remove (I'm not sure if it'll delete the recordings inside it and I haven't bothered to try this yet). While in Edit All check off all the folders you want to remove and then go up to Edit Action and choose Delete.

I think the custom folder feature is mostly there to let you organize one persons recordings from anothers.

I have not tried this feature yet, but it would be nice if when you create your own folders that the shows are still sorted inside that folder you created by theme or title or however you would like them to be...I.E. folders inside of your newly created folders.

Well -- thanks Breser. :) I do indeed have 5 user defined folders. Why is there a limit on that? And why can I not have Sub Folders inside the Folders? Seems like a silly limitation. On the 622 Folders were automatically created if you recorded more then one episode per timer. Why does the 922 not have that feature?

It's probably limited to 5 to make the menu fit. Doesn't seem like they implemented menu scrolling for the drop down menus in this UI. At least I haven't seen it used anywhere if they did.

No idea why they didn't implement folder nesting, maybe they just didn't get to it.

Like I said before, you can use the Folders by Title or Folders by Theme to have automatic folders for shows and themes. Which is what it sounds like you really want anyway.

It DOES have it.

Then how do you turn it on? I have serveral epidodes of LOST and DR WHO and they are not in a folder -- they are shown in the NO FOLDER as individual episodes and not in a folder by themselves. Am I missing something?

It is a way to have the graphics back when I am on "My Folders"?
When I am on "Folders by title", they have the graphic on front, but in the other folders, like "My Folders" the graphics is on the back and darker and it have fonts and things on front of it... is there a way this can be changed?
