Sony Movie Channel?

I realize the main "excitement" right now is the dispute with Fox- but I understood, probably erroneously, that there was going to be a new movie channel by Sony today, October 1.

I can't find it on the program listing, is this delayed now because of all the other hassles going on? Or does it come on later today?

Just wondering, and thanks!

I thing it's supposed to be on today. With all the other BS going on, I would think they would cut it on to calm some people down.

Gotta agree, would seem to be a smart thing to do. But, then I am not a marketing person (snicker)....

I don't think that Dish has a marketing department, at least they do not act like it. I realize that they do, but they have to be one of the poorest run in the industry, I am sure that any of us here could do as good if not a better job than they do. I know one thing that they (Dish) is good at, and that is pissing off their customers.

yet they still make money (more than their competitor d*) and thats the whole point of running a business

Dish is notorious for making statements/promises that do not come true, except for dropping channels and raising rates/fees. While I love new content and upgrades, etc., I do not like how Dish uses websites as their "marketing" department. The powers to be at Dish must be the cheapest people on Earth. On the other hand, they would not all be millionaires/billionaires if they gave us everything we wanted.

Jhart, thanks for the link to the website. I just checked, and like you, I don't have it yet, but at least the website said it is supposed to be channel 386 & part of the Platinum HD, which I already subscribe to. Anyway, this is much more than I (we) knew earlier!

Per the uplink report (on that other site) channel 386 on 61.5 (TP25) & 129(TP28).

I hope digiblur can fix the code on this site as soon as possible, 'cause the other site isn't at all clear to read - plus, for whatever reason I can't open the url at work.

Its up and broadcasting!

ALL RIGHT! Its up - here at least- since around 12:00 noon CDT! (on channel 386, shows as "SMC"). :)

Hope they lose the bug... ;)

I just tuned to it and it has the very ugly Sony Movie Channel bug in the upper right corner. The Fisher King is on right now and the listing is SMC. It showed up but when I tried to get past 10PM tonight it said I need to update guide so that's what I'm doing now.

Slim pickin's IMO. Only saw one movie I was even slightly interested in...that I've seen many times.
