I just put in my order for a Winegard DS-3101 :) and need some help on choosing the right motor for it. I have read that someone else in this forum has used an SG2100 successfully on this dish, but with some modifications.

If any of you have experience with this dish and a motor, please shed some light on my situation. I'd like the motor installation to be as hassle free as possible and the motor, itself, strong enough to turn this 1 meter beast.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I like the down pointing motors, the SG2100 works on dish up to 1.2m so you will be fine there. Some PVC tubing can be used to make up the difference in the inside diameter of the dish mount, and the outside diameter of the motor mounting tube (if needed). Then split the PVC pipe so that it can reduce in diameter as its tightened onto the motor mounting tube. I am sure there are some pictures here somewhere if I find them I will post them below........good luck!

Can't find the pictures, maybe this thread will give you some more ideas...

Thanks PSB,

That link was very helpful. Looks simple enough to me. While I have your attention I was wondering what you thought was the better receiver...the Fortec Lifetime Ultra or the Satwork 3688. The two most important features I am looking for is picture quality and weak signal receiving strength. I know the Fortec has the AC3 output and the USALS feature, whereas the Satwork doesn't; are there any other major differences I am overlooking? Are there any other receivers (aside from the pansat 2500) that I should consider? I'm looking to spend up to $250 for the receiver.

Any other members feel free to chime in with their opinions.

Much thanks.

Thanks PSB,

That link was very helpful. While I've got you here, I had just one more question about receivers. I have been looking at the Fortec Lifetime Ultra and the Satwork 3688 and would like your opinion on which receiver produces a better picture and which one has better weak signal strength. These are my two primary concerns. I understand that the Satwork does not have AC3 output or the USALS feature, whereas the Fortec does. Are there any other important features I am missing?

Are there any other receivers I should consider? I was looking to spend up to $250 for the receiver alone. Any other members please feel free to chime in with your opinions.

Much thanks

Thanks, PSB

The link helped a lot. I would like to know if anyone here has tried to use a Stab motor on a 1 meter dish, and if they had good results. I've heard mixed reviews about the Stab so I am leaning towards the SG2100 but I don't want to count the Stab out just yet. If anyone with the Winegard 1 meter dish has experience with either of these motors, I would be grateful if you would give me your opinions.
