My Me ist gone! Anybody else lose the ME-TV signal just today? Maybe it is snowing too much up there.

Working here at Chicago's city's limits (down a bit in Q) WCIU's uplink is down by the lakefront and there getting lake effect snow there. My bud also has snow in it. But its up :)

It was fine yesterday, but not at home to check it right now. I hope it comes back. EDIT: Just saw your post, Pro. Glad it's up.

Me's up ,This is up. Nasa is up no problems here :) Just put the bud back on W7 4DTV in Park. :D Back to pizza.

Maybe I have too much snow then, lol. We got all of an inch today, very wet stuff, 34degrees and dropping. I think its over now, but maybe has pulled ME lnb support off center or something. Really don't want to go out there right now but I may have to! Thanks for the infos.

I thought it might be that, but I find now that I have no polarotor control at all on my c-band dish, so that means the little motor has bit the dust, finally, haha. It can't be because its too cold, it just below freezing right now, and it has worked down to the teens before. Tomorrow, I suppose I'll have to swap out feedhorns. Can't even get NASA on it right now!

Your servo may come back when it warms up. Up here were we have temps below zero and windchills up to 80 below is really a testing ground for servo's and actuators. I have a factory 1989 tiger motor on my ADL feed with the nylon block spacer that keeps the motor off the metal. That makes a big difference when its in the single digits. Just swap the servo 4 screws and 3 wires not a big repair.

I guess this really shows the different between having a small dish and the older C-band dish as yesterday we had 9.1 inches of snow and my 7.5 footer never lost the METV signal as it keep a level of around 75 and quality of 65. Now in my case my 7.5' dish with the Dual KU did need to have the snow removed from it as it lost signal from the W1 satellite.

I do love the big old dishes.

I have seen times when the snow did not effect the signal at all but if the snow ever thaws a bit and then refreezes and turns into a thin layer of ice, it will change the reflective surface and degrade the signal.

This feedhorn was an older corotor that Stogie sent me to try out. Seemed to be ok, but it was very slow to change polarity sometimes, never quite figured out why. Even in the summer it would take 5-6seconds after changing channel before the polarity would ever switch. I have backups, for backups, hehe. And I'll move my little 7.5 dish over to 87 also, for a c-band backup system for ME TV.

and i thought i had it bad as a canadian. checkt the converter and thats -62 celsius. wow. i havent seen temps that low here for awhile.

crackt out,.

Me TV came back late Christmas night, polarotor moving fine. Must've been some condensation that froze it briefly, or a piece of ice blocking the feedhorn from getting any signals. Around midnight I checked and I was getting channels on 87W again. Big garbage bag I have over the feedhorn probably collected some snow just in the right place to block signal for awhile.
